The Hebrew word heart is Lev. The word Levi means my heart.

Here , Leah names her son Levi because she is expecting his birth to help untie her heart to Jacob's heart. The meaning is that he will be the one that helps to bring two people's hearts together.

Gen 29:34 And she conceived again, and bore a son; and said: 'Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons.' Therefore was his name called Levi.

I really like this translation...Especially when I think about our heart being joined to God.

Gen 29:34 When Leah's third son was born, she said, "Now my husband will hold me close." So this son was named Levi.

From the concordance...

לוה
lâvâh
law-vaw'
A primitive root; properly to twine, that is, (by implication) to unite, to remain; also to borrow (as a form of obligation) or (causatively) to lend: - abide with, borrow (-er), cleave, join (self), lend (-er).

The name of someone points to their destiny and purpose. The Levites were called to join their hearts to God in the service of the temple and also to be the intercessors who would help join the people's heart to God's heart.

Are you a spiritual Levite ? One whose spiritual birth helps to unite people's hearts to God. One whose heart is joined to God.

This well known verse uses the Hebrew word Lev for heart.

Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

The meaning of the word heart in Hebrew is the part in you that joins you to others. It is the superglue of relationships.

Do you think it is possible that God feels like Leah ?

Every time someone is born again and called to be an intercessor , do you think maybe a part of God gets hopeful that this will be the time that the heart of his beloved will finally be joined to Him and draw close to Him?

Anyway , I just thought I would share. This is what God wanted to talk to me about today during my prayer time....

He asked me if my heart will be joined to His or will I be like the Levites of old who made it about all the outward stuff and missed the main point ?

He told me that he gets His hopes up that ours hearts will be joined. He doesn't hold back. He fully lays his heart out there for me even when I have repeatedly stomped all over it and set my heart to pursue other interests.

He led me to this song....
