Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of:
  1. repentance from dead works
  2. and of faith toward God, 2
  3. of instruction about washings
  4. and laying on of hands,
  5. and the resurrection of the dead
  6. and eternal judgment.

3 And this we will do, if God permits. 4 For in the case of those who: (were at one time saved)
  1. have once been enlightened
  2. and have tasted of the heavenly gift
  3. and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5
  4. and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,

6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

Instead of finding fault "with their former repentance" -- Paul wished he could "renew them again" to their former repentance but finds that it is impossible in the case of those who made a final and full rejection of the salvation experience that they had and were determined not to turn back ever again.

how odd then - is the response -

Nicely done!

This passage of Hebrews is very specific about people loosing their salvation. I'm not sure why people are trying to use other sections of scripture to try and battle against it.

Why don't people realize it for what it is. Esau lost his inheritance, people who betray GOD can also.

Thanks! Therefore God's condemnation is irrevocable and eternal, even as entry into heaven is irrevocable and life in heaven is eternal.
Many people alive today - and under the condemnation outside of the gospel of the form "The wages of sin is death" Rom 6:23 -- will one day accept the gospel and be saved.

But they won't be doing such a thing after they die that first death that all humans die - as you seem to indicate

And can only be PEOLES ?
# 1 It depends on who ypu believe wrote the book of HEBREWS ?
# 2 It can be the BODY of Christ !
# 3 It can be Israel !
And Paul wrote the BOOK of HRBREWS to Israel !!
Actually, Paul wrote the book of Hebrews to new Hebrew Christians who were considering apostasizing, returning to Judaism.
AND in Acts 2:38 rejected Peter's message , period !!
# 4 In Acts 28 : 25-28 Israel was setaside and Paul went to the GENTILES and they will HEAR , and all GETILES
should be GLAD !!

We can make it say that if we take it out of context, certainly.

Actually no iot is not

Hebrews is arguing against returning to law. In the law you can lose salvation. That is why animal sacrifice had to continue year after year.

Hebrews is arguing the fact if you go back to law you will not be renewed to come back to christ. ie. If it were possible to fall away. you could never be renewed.

Christ died once.. The law says he has to die over and over (if it were possible to fall away, Christ would have to return) hence saying you can fall away puts him to open shame (it says his death was not enough
