The first prophecy of the Bible is where God spoke to the serpent, telling him.....

  • Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her Seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel.
The serpent did. He nailed Christ to the cross...not realizing that was the purpose Jesus came for. It defeated Satan for He accomplished what we cannot.

  • Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.
Satan bruised Christ and in his role as the serpent...he bruises us.

  • Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Although Satan bruises us it isn't a death blow for, through Christ, "we are healed." The serpent bruises us with his deception. Christ was anointed to give us eyes to see the truth...sight to the blind. What of the other part of the first prophecy? "It shall bruise thy head."

  • Psalm 68:21 But God shall wound the head of His enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.

Revelation 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

Revelation 13:12-14 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
His deadly wound is only healed for a certain time for...

  • Nahum 3:18-19 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them. There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

Mary as one woman (after the flesh) is a similitude of the many (after the Spirit) as it pertains to the Church (the Woman)

Romans 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Interestingly, there are at least two other women in the Old Testament who are described to have smote the enemy's head. These women are Jael (Jdg 4:21) and Judith (Jdt 13:8-9).

What is bonus interesting about these women who are said to have smote the enemy's head, is that they are both called "blessed among women." Jael is called this in Jdg 5:24 and Judith is called this in Jdt 13:18.

And what other woman is known to have received this label? The Virgin Mary (Lk 1:42). So can she be fairly said to be the one who crushes the serpent's head in Gn 3:15? The insinuation is strong in light of Jael and Judith fitting a similar antetype. Since the pronoun in Gn 3:15 is androgynous, Mary can rightfully be seen to be the one to smite the enemy's head because she ascends to the angel's prompt to deliver the Savior to the world. She smites the devil's head with a far more powerful weapon than a tent stake or sword, like Jael and Judith used. Mary's weapon is the Son.

Ugghh.

Mary's weapon?
Was it Mary upon the cross, sheesh.
Deistic identity much?

The Deadly Wound Bruises the Serpent's Head

Interesting. The same greek word #4969 in Reve 5:6 is also used in relation to that head been "slain/slaughtered" in Reve 13:3

Reve 5:6 And I saw and behold! in midst of the throne and of the four living-ones and in midst of the elders a lambkin standing, as having been slaughtered/slain/esfagmenon <4969> (5772)N

Reve 13:3 And one, out of the heads/f of it/n, as having been slaughtered/slain/esfagmenhn <4969> (5772)F into death, and the blow of the death of it was healed
And marvels whole the land behind of the wild-beast.

4969. sphazo sfad'-zo a primary verb; to butcher (especially an animal for food or in sacrifice) or (generally) to slaughter, or (specially), to maim (violently):--kill, slay, wound.
