I had to do a little research to learn the reason for the deliberate misspelling. It is a pun connected to the modern slang term “riz” which is short for “charisma.” They’re saying Jesus has charisma, and He has risen.

Many Christians are not thrilled with the shirts, and I see why. The art style pretty much makes Him look like a stoner partying with other stoners. We’re not supposed to change His persona so He’ll be more palatable to the world. We’re supposed to present Him as He is.

Now, this said, I like to wear a white rose on Easter. A rose in my hair, or jewelry such as a pin or earrings. Why a rose? Because He rose. By doing this, I am also making a pun on the Resurrection.

Is there really a fundamental difference between my “rose” and their “rizzen?” If so, what is it?
