Thank you taxpayers for paying for Biden's grand daughters wedding

Jill Biden's comms director said the Bidens paid for the wedding. I understand the bride was instrumental in persuading Joe to run for president. This was a nice gesture from Joe to show her his gratitude.

And each American chooses whether to unite with the rest of America. People who choose a political tribe over the interests of America are not the least bit interested in unity. Indivisible is not just a word in the pledge of allegiance. It means something to most Americans. Unfortunately, some people forget that unity has always been our strength. Polarization has run amok.

I really don't care about who paid for the wedding, Biden's bike rides, Trump playing golf, etc. Those are obsolete issues politicians use to influence small minds.

I agree that people choose whether to unite or divide. But at the same time it is the role of the GOP and the DNC to divide America.

The most secure asset a political party has are its loyalists. These reside far from the middle ground of politics. Each party strives to increase the number of what some call "sheeple" in their party (those who will always support the party line).


Political partys do this by manipulation. The middle population may or may not see the manipulation, the loyalists never see it. Loyalist DNC folk see Trump as a racist. Loyalist GOP folk see Biden as senile.

Political partys have moved from caring about the nation and about truth to caring primarily about power and their political survival.

They are responsible for dividing the nation. This doesn't mean individuals are not responsible for their willingness to subject themselves.

As you say, the white house is guarded by security at all times and has procedure in place for vetting visitors. If the wedding is held there they eliminate the added costs of adequately securing a new location.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your point...

Secret service costs are a factor for any sitting or former president, regardless of the venue. Secret service would be around (and taxpayer funded) if George Bush decided to go to Applebee's for a sub-par burger and watered down Bud Light.

If the venue is the problem...I'm pretty sure presidents are allowed to invite people over to their (sorta, kinda) temporary home for events...it comes with the territory. Like it or not, one of the perks of becoming president is that you get to enjoy certain creature comforts at the taxpayers expense.

Especially if (given secret service responsibilities) it's the easiest way to secure the event by hosting it at a building that already has the appropriate security measures in place.

If you're a sitting president, it'd be cheaper to host a gathering at the white house than it would be to try to do it at a Dave & Busters. The security, surveillance, building operations, etc... are in place at the white house whether Biden's physically there or not. It's not like a normal house where you can turn off all the lights and it's empty when you leave. At worst, the taxpayers covered some fancy dinners for 120 people. It's not the dumbest thing my tax dollars have ever been wasted on. It costed more for them to grill baseball players about steroids, and for Tipper Gore's pet project of trying to punish Dee Snyder and Frank Zappa for using naughty words in albums.

Yeah, I pressume SS follow the president and his family around everywhere.
The only time it costs more is if the SS have to be put up in expensive rooms on an away trip.
Like when Trump was overcharging them to stay at his hotels. It was a double whammy there because not only was that a much higher cost than usual, it was also a way of funnelling that money into Trump's own pockets.

The major expense would be in the additional labor needed to secure the facilities and the cost of presidential travel to and from.
