Texts that explain that God speaks to us through impressions, thoughts, images?

I know that God hears our thoughts. I know he can give us a word to give to someone (prophecy). Some people claim he gives images when they close their eyes. I haven't found any texts that indicate this though. I have seen texts that indicate visions are given to some people, but vision in the Bible usually means the person is in a trance-like state induced by the Holy Spirit and they are very vivid. Can he actually put fuzzy images into our minds to communicate as well - is this scriptural? What about seeing words when we close our eyes?

Also is the still small voice scriptural? I know the one He gave Elijah is, but that may have actually been a voice. What about when people claim they sense God is speaking a phrase to them or a sentence in an inaudible voice? Is this Biblical (provide texts).

What about impressions and emotions?

This is one of those things that I think I know the answer to, but thinking isn't enough, I need to really know what the truth is. I realized I've been practicing "listening" to God's voice for a while now (I havent let myself try to get images as I don't think that is scriptural), but if this isn't scriptural I shouldn't be doing it! It might even be the enemy giving me thoughts if it's not something God does.

John (Revelation): Nearly the entire book of Revelation is a vision John had while exiled on the island of Patmos. John’s vision explains in more detail some of the events that God had shown Daniel.
The Bible reveals that God has spoken through lots (Proverb 16:33; Acts 1:21-26), urim and thummim (Exodus 28:30), dreams (Genesis 20:3), visions (Isaiah 6:1; Acts 11:3), angels (Daniel 9:20-21), prophets, events (such as in Micah 6:5), and Jesus (John 1:14).

When Samuel heard God’s voice, he didn’t recognize it, but Eli did (1 Samuel 3:1-10). When Gideon received a revelation from God, he was so unsure that it was from God that he resorted to asking for a sign three times (Judges 6:17-22, 36-40)

Solomon (1 Kings 3:5): It was in a dream that God gave Solomon the famous offer: "Ask what you wish Me to give you." Solomon chose wisdom.

*The still small voice is in 1 Kings 19:12 (Read the whole chapter.)
God can speak in an audible voice...as indicated in the bible...for example:
Hebrews 12:18-24.

Impressions/emotions...God may "impress" on someone to do something...
spiritual urging or prompting. Like when Philip was prompted to go to the
Ethiopian eunuch... or the time when the apostles were prevented from
going into Asia (warned by the Holy Spirit.)

I can't forget this verse from the Song of Solomon 5:4
"My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were
moved for him."
The metaphors here are quite "bold" for some folks and reflect upon emotions.
(By the hole - He assayed to open the door. Tie-in with Luke 11:20.
When his word would not prevail, his spirit, which is called the finger of God,
(Luke 11:20) wrought inwardly upon my conscience.
Were moved - With compassion for him and his sufferings, and
with affection to him.)

I don't find evidence of God using fuzzy images but He has used some
visual images/visions that were difficult for the person to clearly describe..
John for example and there were things God wouldn't allow him to reveal.
