I'd like the opinions of some Christians on this issue. I've been married six years to a great guy, but for the last few years have had problems getting aroused in bed. I have the desire to have sex, but no matter what my husband tries to do, it is rare that I become aroused.
A few times, before we were married, I had read erotic fiction and was really turned on by it. However, I felt that it was not something Christians should read and didn't seek it out anymore. While talking to my husband about my arousal problems, he said "If reading that stuff turns you on, just do it if it will enhance our sex life." I tried reading some, but it was too hard to enjoy because the sexual encounters that happens in those stories are always sinful-- usually between people who just met, or co-workers who are cheating on spouses... stuff like that is more depressing than arousing, you know?
I tried searching the web for Christian Erotic Fiction, meaning sexual stories about married people. Didn't find anything, but I've been tempted to write some myself, as I am a fairly skilled writer with a great imagination. My question is, do you think this would be sinful? I don't think it would be sinful for Christians to use a vibrator or other "toys" in bed if both partners were comfortable with it and it enhanced their sex lives. Could fiction like this be viewed as another sexual aid, or is there some angle I'm missing?
I anticipate someone saying that pornography would not be Godly if it were married persons having sex, and I'd agree-- because they are real people and their union is sacred and private. But fictional situations that celebrate the wonderful gift of sex between husband and wife-- what do you think? Opinions would be appreciated!
And yes, I'm going to try to help my own sex life in ways other than fiction and fantasy-- going to try maybe Barnes and Noble for a good book on how to rev up your arousal or romantic techniques to try.
