Skinny Dipping?

In the 30's and 40's when they had nude swimming at the YMCA was skinny dipping not considered a big deal and most people did not hide it?

Christians either did it or not and it was ok to talk about it at church etc.? Just curious.

I doubt it is more than 50 percent but is probably more than will admit it.
Yes, a lot of people will participate in nude activities but won't call themselves nudists. I think a lot of propel aren't comfortable with the label.
Back then, the YMCA was true to its name and was men only. Once they started allowing women that is when the practice ended.
I am not quite sure I understand you last question.

What's wrong with skinny dipping? I've done it most of my life, in the ocean, rivers, lakes, pools. I hate wet swimsuits, they're not good for your skin.

I mean that probably people used to talk about skinny dipping when it was more common. At church events now the topic never comes up.

I don't think there is anything wrong with skinny dipping, but I don't think I could talk to people at church about it.

I have no opposition to it. I have some friends from the city coming up to my place in the country, so I thought I would offer the possibility; this may not be something they've ever had the chance to do before. One can't swim, so I didn't go any further than mentioning the river with him. I've skinny dipped alone in the river before, but I think it could be a fun experience with my friend. We're opposite sexes, but I think we both are strong enough that temptation won't be a worry. I fully intend on praying together beforehand; it would be a great moment of gratitude, and we could be brought to a new appreciation for God & His wonderful Creation, especially that of our bodies. I don't know if she struggles with body image, though I suspect she does a little. Part of why I want to do this with her is so that she may appreciate her body more. Something about skinny dipping makes it clear that even imperfect bodies are still wonderful. And if we can be naked without shame, I believe that brings us 1 step closer to Eden.

I used to do a lot of hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Anytime we camped next to a stream we would skinny dip that evening. You don’t want to spend the next day carrying a wet bathing suit in your backpack. Sometimes we would have nearby campers if either sex, they would often strip and join us.

I did when I was a young boy, friends and would in local secluded river or stream areas. But not now, I live in the far north of Britain on an island (not a tropical one at that!) surrounded by the Atlantic, not very warm even on the hottest of days. And should I be that crazy it would only be with my wife.

Of course people in 1911 went skinny dipping. The majority of folks were country and didn't have a swimming suit on hand. But, times have changed. With what seems to be the growing prevalence of Vibrio vulnificus (flesh-eating bacteria), I prefer to keep as many orifices covered as possible. Who knows where those nasty little critters will gain entrance? I prefer a full bodysuit with goggles in a freshly drawn bath for swimming. Better safe than sorry.

You would essentially need a "dry suit" like very-cold-water divers wear to protect your "orifices".

Yeah, I've gone skinny dipping. It's incredibly liberating to swim naked. I mean, God kind of created people to exist naked in a tropical/subtropical environment, and specifically suited us to spend a lot of time in and near water. But, you know... curse and shame of nakedness and all that... so, I only go skinny dipping by myself. However, If I ever get married, I would really love to share the experience with my wife. ☺

Although God cursed the serpent, Eve, and Adam after the Fall, God didn't curse their nakedness. And the Bible says Adam hid because he was "afraid", not ashamed.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that God cursed nakedness, in fact, I think it's one of the only things that came through the curse better than before: however, there are some strict prohibitions about nakedness in the Bible, and God made adam and eve clothes with which to cover their nakedness, and my main point, I am ashamed if someone sees me naked, and that is undoubtedly an effect of the curse, one way or another. Anyhow, chears, didn't mean to step on anyones toes or anything, and I certainty didn't mean to imply that nakedness itself was cursed.

No toes stepped on! I just like to see people enjoy the innocent joy of non-sexual nudity of skinny-dipping and life in general.

Sexual intercourse is not always off-limits. Neither are the words "sexual intercourse".
The f-word is off limits because it's considered vulgar, not because it refers to sex.
