Were the giants not caused by demons messing with woman and producing the nephilim?

If so, assuming god destroyed all the nephilim with the flood leaving only noah&co why would the 'six finger' gene surive? Unless.. these guys are demon spawn? (Who you gonna call!..wait thats for ghosts, we're doomed!)

I'd say you're questioning the wrong details. Like, I dunno, the part where extra digits are a result of demons somehow? Grats on having doubts though. Doubting is a virtue.

Where does the six fingers and toes part of the story come from?

From what I remember of the Bible, Genesis doesn't go into detail about the Nephilim and the stuff post flood about the Anakim seems to be folk lore in context (the bit where the guys are lying about seeing Anakim and saying they felt lime grasshoppers).

If you go outside the Bible into apocrypha like the Book of Enoch the Nephilim come off as less humanoid then the impression I got from the Bible. (200 cubits tall if I remember correctly).

I never believed angels/demons had sexual relations with humans. Actually seeing this guy builds my faith in the literal accounts.

I wasn't disputing that giants were mentioned in the Bible, I had just always got the impression that the report in Number 13:33 was meant to be an excessive exaggeration.


I'm a big fan of the old stories about the giants... even my screen name is derived from the Book of Enoch version of the Nephilim Story.

One thing that has always confused me... where do the post flood giants come from? Did one of Noah's daughters-in-law have Nephilim blood and pass it on to the "Sons of Anak"?

You have not read the history as closely as you think. Find that word "assumption" in your statement, remove it, and do the only logical thing ...

This is almost as troubling as how holy angels fell in the first place. There is a grave warning here! But if you look into the OT stories that so many condemn G-d for, you see He used the sword of Israel to ... "take care of business," rather than another great flood.

And don't minimize that report by the 12 spies; it is pivotal to Israel's history. One of the 2 to give a positive report was also Moses' servant - Joshua.

I do not see the difference. You may have to explain it a bit further, I am in the 'born atheist' catagory so dont actually have the bible memorized.

I'm still not getting how you are jumping to that conclusion, especially when Polydactyly is a common genetic mutation... Apparently 1 in 500 births have it. This doesn't mean 1 in 500 people are nephilim, now does it?

I do not see the difference. You may have to explain it a bit further, I am in the 'born atheist' catagory so dont actually have the bible memorized.

So you assume G-d destroyed all the Nephilim w/ the flood. The Bible says Noah was saved because he was human, rather than demon spawn. Other than that "all flesh was corrupted," obviously including animals since they have flesh. What about the 7 others in the boat? (It is not specified if they were also fully human or not)

Worse, if Noah's family was all fully human which I think makes sense, what about either the same evil spirits that offended the first time, (don't think so per Scripture) and if neither of the above, that means other evil spirits did it again. Which might mean they still can. Even worse yet, Jesus plainly stated that when He returns, it will be "like the days of Noah." In what way? We don't have those details recorded in Scripture, even if He gave them. Quite possibly He could have been alluding to this same problem recurring. Like we don't have enough problems already?!

For once I think this is pertinent. Nephilim aren't a genetic aberration, neither did "some of them" have 24 digits. Neither was that their distinguishing feature.

If the whole concept was allegorical for something non-physical, that's one thing. Some Bible believers think this way, but after looking at this for decades I can't make that jibe, overall.
