Since there is another thread about Satan's androgyny, here is an interesting question - who is the baby Satan is holding?

The Antichrist?

Also, some other interesting points. Why did Mel portray Jesus with one eye in the whole movie? I heard somewhere, I cannot remember where, that the Antichrist would have one eye!?

The baby Satan was holding represented sin. Jesus wasn't portrayed with one eye. He just received a strong blow to the face that left one of His eyes swollen shut.

actually, I think it is mammon. It could very well be a representation of sin, but it make more sense that satan be caressing his son than caressing sin. Sin is satan, satan became sin. This is a good question, and I am going to look into it a little more.

satan holding that little creepy baby is just his way of mocking God. Jesus is the Song of God, so satan comes with his own baby to mock God, as if saying,"look, here's my little son; and look at Yours dying". It's not that deep, y'know? And it goes with the outer symbolism the film heavily relied on.

Some interesting points here. As for the one eye, obviously I know it was because he was punched and it swelled shut. I'm just curious why Mel chose to portray him that way.
