First, this is not about the President, but the Democratic Party's efforts to find their way to connect with the public and some decide being vulgar and profane is how to be authentic.

Which means - that is what they always have been - authentically profane.

While I'm sure many are authentically profane, the idea now is to appear authentic, not necessarily to be authentic.

Of course democrats should go the low road. "When they go low we go high" cost them two elections.

The low road is certainly not one they should cede to Trump and his allies, but it is not by itself a complete strategy. They must also:

1. Legally resist illegal actions.
2. Call out what the Trump admin does and would not like to be publicized (what is unpopular and what can be made unpopular).
3. Not cede the narrative.
4. Contrast Trump actions with past Dem successes and plans.
5. Put together and promote their own plans to fix what Trump/Musk is breaking and build new things.

I am on topic. It is hypocritical to decry the use of some profanity by Dems when it is so heavily used by our current president

I don't like the profanity, but I don't think anyone who voted for Trump, who is SO profane at times, has the moral ground to criticize Dems.

Did any Dems talk about Arnold Palmer's penis size other than to criticize Trump's mentioning it in a rally?

The Dems are certainly engaged in #1-3. They've done little of 4 & 5, but the next election is 18 months away and now is the time for letting their opponents (the GOP) make their very public mistakes and face the pushback.

You are correct, this thread is about the Democrats. However, you can't analyze Democratic behavior without considering the broader environment. Both Democrats and Republicans, including the current President, have been misbehaving and using offensive language that was uncommon 20 years ago. I can't imagine President Bush, Senator Kerry, Senator McCain, or President Obama using the language we hear today.

Both sides became aggressive. I have heard Rep Crockett speak, and her behavior deviates significantly from what we typically expect from elected officials. However, Rep Crockett is not the only one; just last week, I heard Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene use similar language. Discussing Jasmine Crockett necessitates addressing Marjorie Taylor Greene as well. This is not about "whataboutism" but rather recognizing that both sides have issues, compounded by problems with voters. I hold the voters more responsible than the elected officials because we tolerate such behavior in the pursuit of winning.

It is clear that some Democrats exhibit what has been termed as "Trump derangement syndrome," where any issue is quickly attributed to President Trump. Statements like "Trump did this" or "Trump did that" are common, as if his actions justify certain behaviors. It is crucial to recognize that we should never excuse improper behavior simply because President Trump engages in it. However, when discussing provocative behavior in American politics, President Trump is undeniably at its core. It is difficult to discuss contemporary American politics or the current political environment without considering President Trump's influence.

Neither Harris or Biden was a convicted felon who had a lifetime of fraud (taxes, Trump U and Foundation), much less a self-professed sexual assaulter (Entertainment tonight video) who was found liable for sexual assault. Neither one talked about a pro golfer's penis size, or referred to their opposition as either a pimp or pimp handler, or constantly has to call people names or use racist tropes like Trump and MAGA.

A while back, I passed one of those guys selling merch on the street corner next to a strip mall. I distinctly remember (and probably photographed, though I can't find the pic now) the flags saying "I stand for the flag and kneel for the cross" being planted right next to the flags saying "<screw> your feelings". It was quite the juxtaposition.

The Times used Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett as an example of Democrats going on the offensive against Republicans, such as her attacking Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., for having a "bleached-blonde, bad-built, butch body."​

According to The Times, more Democrats are following Crockett's lead as party insiders encourage politicians to use "a new form of combative rhetoric aimed at winning back voters who have responded to President Trump’s no-holds-barred version of politics."​

I doubt it affects the center left at all After the last 10 years, folks are used to profanity, especially by someone like Trump.
People are more concerned with issues like immigration, and the economy. Trump is doing more to hurt his poll numbers than any coarse comment from a Dem Rep.

Agreed - unless they can reign in this dark woke group and come together - it doesn't look good.

The Trump is bad blah, blah, blah has been so vitriolic and steady for seven years, it is falling on deaf ears, even when it holds some accuracy.
