Resistance Democrats embrace combative, profanity-laced 'dark woke' rebrand to combat Trump

The Times used Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett as an example of Democrats going on the offensive against Republicans, such as her attacking Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., for having a "bleached-blonde, bad-built, butch body."
According to The Times, more Democrats are following Crockett's lead as party insiders encourage politicians to use "a new form of combative rhetoric aimed at winning back voters who have responded to President Trump’s no-holds-barred version of politics."
Many Democrats have taken to injecting profanity into their vocabulary in response to MAGA and in an attempt at "authenticity."
"[C]ommunications consultants for Democratic politicians have encouraged — or allowed — more swearing. Profanity, [Democratic strategist Tyson] Brody, 38, said, is often seen as a ‘shortcut to authenticity,’ though it can also be overused and backfire," The Times reported.
I couldn't link because of the profanity - but it is easily found by highlighting it and searching.

Hard to believe intelligent people believe that profanity is a shortcut to authenticity - unless they are authentically profane.

Probably not the best strategy for the Dems.

I think that kind of profane, low class, crass behavior only resonates authentically with the average republican voter.

Crockett peppers her speech with occasional profanity--accompanied by accurate, factual, sharp responses.
47 pours it on like the famous A1 steak sauce...and no AI is used, because even an AI speech would make ten times as much sense as his own musings.

Rather funny and hypocritical to criticize the Dems, specifically Rep. Crockett, for profanity when Trump and company have liberally been using profane and obscene commentary, as occurred in the Madison Square rally:

Mr. Trump has always been more prone than any of his predecessors in the White House to publicly use what were once called dirty words. But in his third campaign for the presidency, his speeches have grown coarser and coarser. Altogether, according to a computer search, Mr. Trump has used words that would have once gotten a kid’s mouth washed out with soap at least 140 times in public this year. Counting tamer four-letter words like “damn” and “hell,” he has cursed in public at least 1,787 times in 2024.

I really do not want Dems to lower themselves in that way, but some see it as fighting back against Trump and MAGA. It seems voters think that the person means it more if there is profanity like on TV or in the movies.

We might approach a Lonesome Rhodes moment if our esteemed President tries to put his miter in the ring for the top job over in Vatican City?

Profanity, misbehavior, and derogatory remarks should not be part of public service and politics. It is important to maintain civility in political discourse

Having said that , since 2015, I have frequently heard that "he is just a straight talker, not a typical politician; he speaks like an average American."

But sure .. Let's move forward and work towards restoring civility in our politics for future generations.

Supporters of President Trump perceive his actions as resisting the apparent threats posed by Democrats and Liberals to middle America. Conversely, Democrats view such behavior as a counteraction against Trumpism.

Today, there are no repercussions for misconduct in politics. Previously, politicians who misbehaved faced penalties. Voters now seem too angry or scared of the opposition to hold their own party accountable.

The individual who advocates for civility in politics or criticizes Democrats may not genuinely support this stance, as it is likely they voted for President Trump multiple times.

The same applies to the opposing side. Individuals who criticize President Trump for alleged misconduct are likely to support any Democratic candidate running against him, irrespective of their personal character.

"Let's Go Brandaryeh Jay" doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it?

I used to shake my head over the past four years when I saw cars with a Christian symbol like Ichthys (Jesus fish) next to a "Let's go Brandon" sign.

That example is not profane and was in the form of a question to the chair on a point of order AFTER Greene made a personal insult towards Crockett. It was hilarious that the chair asked her to repeat the question. ^_^

A while back, I passed one of those guys selling merch on the street corner next to a strip mall. I distinctly remember (and probably photographed, though I can't find the pic now) the flags saying "I stand for the flag and kneel for the cross" being planted right next to the flags saying "<screw> your feelings". It was quite the juxtaposition.

Compartmentalized and fragmented consciousness is common among religious fundamentalists in the US. I strongly suspect these religious institutions actively encourage this as a tool of psychological manipulation or gaslighting.

First, this is not about the President, but the Democratic Party's efforts to find their way to connect with the public and some decide being vulgar and profane is how to be authentic.

Which means - that is what they always have been - authentically profane.

Second, if the very best defense given is a whatabout - is very telling.

Not we are better than that
Not, we shouldn't go down that road.
Not the use of corse and profane language is beneath us
Non let's bring dignity back

The only defense offered is - well he did it first!

Really?
