Shalom Wags,

I guess in order to help you I would have to ask, you only eat vegetarian right? and what are your practices of food preparation on Shabbat? some will use electricity some will not. I don't believe using electricity cause anyone to work so don't have a problem using it, as long as all the 'work' of preparation is done before sundown. I also don't believe in wasting electricity by using a blech to hold things warm or a crock pot, that is wasting what the L-RD has given us. My main appliances used for this would be my toaster oven , and my steamer. The steamer mainly as it doesn't require any watching or attendance. I dont' use a microwave oven for health reasons so that isn't in my equasion for heat ups.

Have you ever thought of having fondue? Kids love this and everyone does their own 'cooking'. There are electric fondue pots so no traditional flame is needed. And they can pick what veggies or bread to dip. It makes for great conversation and all can be done ahead of time.

Do you eat eggs? Cheese, fish? :)

We are lacto/ovo vegetarians. (We eat eggs and dairly products) I do my prep ahead of time, and will sometimes pop a premade casserole into the oven, but I would prefer not to do any baking/cooking at all on Shabbat. I usually only use a crockpot for those dishes that are best when slow cooked for an extended period.
