Prayer for a Soul Mate

Dear Jesus,

I know many single Christians who are in search of that special someone. Please teach each of us to learn from you and listen to your messengers, so that we will be able to recognize the one you have in mind for us.

Thank you for being patient when we choose a different path. Sometimes we think we know better and take a little more time to come around to your way of thinking. Help us wash away our fears and break those old bad habits that have been getting us into trouble, preventing us from having healthy relationships.

Show us how to manage our time better in our busy lives so that we can make new friends. As you know friendship is a good way to get to know a person before entering into a romance.

And Lord, give us Your guidance to become people of good character and prepare us to meet our new soul mate. We ask this in your precious name.

Amen.

Prayer for Seeking a Marriage Mate

Lord, You said that it is not good for us to be alone. You made us for each other. But Lord, I find it so hard to find that mate who would be a good spouse. Help me, Lord, to put this yearning for marriage in its proper place. Lead me, Lord, to the one whom You choose for my spouse. While I wait for You to reveal Your Will in this matter, help me to know myself better. Help me to address those areas of my life which are disordered and which would interfere with my having a successful marriage. When my desire to find a spouse becomes all consuming, help me to relax and practice patience. Help me to invest in wholesome friendships which bring me closer to You and which will assist me in making such an important decision. It is so natural, Lord, to seek love. Teach me to seek You first and to learn to give love before I try to receive it. Help me to remember that whatever journey this life leads me on, You are always present, always offering companionship, and always filling my deepest need. I offer You, Lord, my loneliness and my longing for marriage. I wait for You to lead me to Your perfect Will for me in this and all things. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, Who said, "It is not good that the man should be alone," I come to you asking for help to find my life partner.

I pray to You for guidance, for I am Your child, and You are my loving and heavenly Father.

As I seek to assume my place in life and fulfill my mission, I long to share my love with another, to establish a home and to raise a family.

In Your tender mercy direct me to a companion who will appreciate me and requite my love. I do not want to be alone, but would prefer to share my joys and sorrows with a beloved mate - one of my faith and my way of life.

Hear my prayer for the sake of Him who blessed marriage by His presence during His ministry on earth. Amen.

Hello All,

I had said these for about 5 months and had some success. Then I stopped and have just started saying them again daily a month ago. Yes they work! Though you have to be assertive enough to ask the woman out. Literally I had two Catholic women "Approach" me. But I shunned them out of foolishness.
As they say live and learn. Yes I especially regret shunning one of the women back 7 months ago.

I'd LOVE to attend Adoration, but my church doesn't have it. We didn't even have it during Holy week. I fear my church is one of the more liberal churches. I, personally, tend to be a far more traditional Catholic.

Hmmm I think I'm going to find out which churches around here have adoration. Good point Swoosh ... VERY GOOD. Time to start calling up a few rectories and asking ... then asking them 'WHY NOT?' if the shoe fits.

I've prayed on this SO MUCH LATELY that I'm sure God is checking his caller ID and thinking, "Not her again." Just joking folks ... just joking!

I'm not sure how to discern it yet. I thought I did. I thought God had brought someone to me, but obviously I was wrong. I wasn't looking at that time and was DEAD SET on going it alone for the rest of my life. Then God introduced me to this man and humbled me into a whole new way of thinking about everything, including marriage roles. Let me tell you, for me that was MONUMENTAL. Then He pulled him away. I keep asking what I was supposed to learn from that ... I'm still waiting for discernment on that one. If anything, I'm not so pig-headed now about thinking of things in relation to submission. So, if for anything else, that was the grace I was to learn? Okay, I learned it, but now it's a life alone? I don't know, I just don't know. I keep asking the Holy Spirit to help me with discernment and clarity LadyDj and you know what? I realized you have to get into scripture to be intuned to it. You have to really read it, study it, and be quite familiar with it in order to discern properly. After all, if something does NOT coinside with scripture, that's easy to discern as a resounding NO!

Then theres the 'sex' issue. Had I known the last time I got any was going to be my last time ... I'd have enjoyed it more? I'm resigned to just focusing my energy and thoughts elsewhere now for distraction ... aHA, like this board! Aren't you all lucky?

I dislike the way marriage is portrayed as a thing where the man is the head of the household. Men dominate most businesses these days, they get more pay, they use their physical strength against women and kids a lot of the time and they're obsessed with perfect looking women.

I would Love a soulmate but there is all that to contend with. Is there any point in a woman working herself into the ground for less pay than a male colleague?

Is there any point dating a Catholic man who thinks he will make all the decisions in marriage and be the head of the household?

My father wasn't even Catholic and he was very much "the head of the household" or so he thought and we have a bad relationship because of his sexist "I'm the boss" attitude.

Thanks heaps too for the "Spare the rod and spoil the child" thing because parents have used that as an excuse to beat the **** out of their kids in my experience.

Why couldn't The Bible have been a bit more "Share marriage, treat your children kindly, Hug them and Love them...don't spoil them but don't hurt them either.."

I'm disappointed with everything right now even The Bible makes me sad and roll my eyes because the way men are treated is so different.

I missed out on a job once because I was female, no other reason. That cuts me deep because I was the most qualified and had put in all the hours and still nothing.

It is a man's world.

Oh, Angelica ... if you feel this way ... just take a look at this thread and learn it has NOTHING to do with being Catholic! A lot of Christian men think and believe this way, not just the Catholic men! Talk about some major blinders people wear to see just what they want to see written in the bible.

Hey, I had a problem with these 'roles' defined in a marriage for FAR TOO LONG but have finally figured them out. I say most of it in that thread above as I don't feel like repeating myself now. Just sufice it to say that although I understand it now ... like I said in the thread, a woman entering a marriage should know the rules of it. With that said, I don't think I'd meet a man worthy enough to take the lead. I have yet to find any who have proven they're not fickle and quickly change their minds or admit to when they've led wrongly. I'll lead alone and take the consequences for my life alone then. I just don't think there's anyone out there for me anymore. Oh well ... maybe I'm still too bitter over having been misled and heart broken still, but this is how I'm feeling right now.

I assume you are referring to the nearby candle (usually behind a red transparent cover). This signifies the presence of the consecrated host in the Tabernacle. The consecrated Host is where you draw your attention to. That IS the precious body of Jesus. That is Jesus. That is why you should genuflect toward the tabernacle. You are showing reverence to Jesus.

Sorry if I misunderstood your question.

Whether or not you can "see" it, know that the presence is there.

Have you looked in to the possible vocation as a nun yet?
