Need prayers again.
I’ve had a double whammy this week; first, in residency application, when the local Ministry of Education decided that, to approve my teacher certification they will require not only the original of the credential itself, but the transcripts that go with it, my previous degrees, and the transcripts that go with them. The logistics involved make it a nightmare. Second, our car has had a major breakdown, the transmission/clutch/flywheel, they tell me. More money than we can afford, and the small-time mechanics I have been a customer of don’t think they can do it.
It never rains, but it pours.
Lord have mercy

Update: The cylinder block has been condemned, the mechanic says the piston rings have probably burst. Major repair, probably more money than I have. I’m flying on a few hundred Euros and wondering how God is going to get me out of this one…

The good news is that I was told that official electronic transcripts would be good enough; I paid the $10 fee and now SUNY‘s registrar’s office is sitting on it. The trouble is, other documents I already have that are required may expire (the “no criminal record” one is only good for a few months). I would think it would just take a secretary two buttons to press, upload and send to the given e-mail address. It ought to take less than thirty seconds, so I don’t know why they would not do it immediately. Bureaucracy…

I'll pray the Akathist to St Xenia on your behalf.

Could you add myself and my family to that akathist as well? I am not in as dire a situation as our friend @rusmiester , but due to my recent illness and certain other factors, including the repose of my last living uncle in September, I am in a situation with bureaucratic aspects, where such prayer would be appreciated.

Now I‘ve lost my job in Russia that I’ve had for 17 years (I was still doing a few courses online). It was a main source of hope for my return to Russia, and support for my kids in Germany, who can’t support themselves yet.
It never rains but it pours.

Kyrie eleison. If you send me a private message with your baptismal Christian name I can send it to the presbyter of my parish and a few others I am friends with as one of the names to include in the Proskomide, with as many or as few details as you want me to include.

Update: I took an advance for half my paycheck, paid 1200€ (all the money we have), and ordered a new engine for the car. I still owe 350€ for labor, hopefully will have the car by the end of the week.
No money for rent, and we wanted to bring our son home for Christmas - he lives alone in Germany, but plane tickets during the holidays are 300-400€, and buses aren’t much cheaper, all transport would add up to something like that. I have no idea how we are going to get through this. My US bank account is empty, and so is my Wise card. I feel like the soldiers in “Aliens” when the ammo for their defensive machine guns ran out.
The good side is that the engine is paid for and I have jumped most of the hurdles to be able to apply for residency.

My son, Andrew, is in fairly big spiritual trouble, alone in Germany. Depression, loneliness, struggling and doing poorly in the German university. Dealing with issues I’d rather not discuss publicly. Asking for prayers for him.

Hi Everyone and also Army Matt.

i am hanging in there with the church. We found a great parish in Texas and oue new priest is a great spiritual father. I have been back in communion for 8 months.

I was away from the church so long that rejoining seemed like the goal. Actually, it was only step one. I am getting used to going to confession regularly and also being honest about some of my spiritual illnesses. Glory to God, I am making progress on some of my sins. I am also learning how deep some of these patterns were in my life.

Next week I am visiting my family in CA. My sister who has a similar journey to mine might go with me to a Liturgy. Please pray for us. Also, I need to not be preachy. I admit I have a newcomers zeal. My sister is a lot like I was. She loves the church and has some icons but hasn‘t been to a service in years. I told her going to a vespers is an easy way to try it out.

I travel a lot for work. Occasionally, I attend services in different places like Amarillo or Austin Texas. I live closer to Houston.

I am getting older. I missed a lifetime of Liturgies but I try not to miss them anymore.
