Hello guys!
I have a question about what the difference between New King James Version (NKJV) and King James Version2000 is?

It feels like they are pretty much the same, or what's the difference?

I have NKJV and KJV, but it would be cool to get an KJV2000 to if its not the same as NKJV.

//Thanks for your help!

The New King James Version took into account older manuscripts than the Authorized Version, which was based on the Texus Receptus. The King James2000 according to this website looks like a mere update of the Authorized Version instead of a new translation. The edition from the website has the words of the whole Godhead -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- in red throughout both the Old and New Testaments.

So the NKJV seems more "accurate"?

Ohh, isn't original KJV most "accurate", so I've always thought...

At the time and long after publication, absolutely. I don't believe it to be anymore, though.

The KJV is beautiful and I'll always own one, but I'd definitely recommend buying several different translations and experimenting with them.

Worst case scenario is you have a handful of translations you can use for reference.

If you do like the ESV though, the study bible is incredible and very reasonably priced.

I'm not sure about any NASB study bibles though.

No it isn't. The NT in the KJV is based on 'inferior' sources.

What Bible does you usually use?

I have KJV, NKJV, NLT, NIV and SFB atm.
What Bibles does you recommend buying other then ESV?

Since you posted this in STR, are you hoping for feedback from Anglicans?

The KJV belongs to Anglicanism, as it originates with the Church of England. It is beautiful in language & still used in some churches, but there are other modern translations available that are superior, taking newer scholarship into account. The NRSV w/ the apocrypha/deuterocanon seems to be a really common version used in Anglican/Episcopal churches, & it's my preference. I do not use the NKJV & to my knowledge it is not used in Anglican churches.

NASB, but I would strongly recommend the ESV.

The easier a bible is to read, within reason, tends to stray from strict accuracy and more toward accessibility.

While thought-for-thought may be OK for kids, I think adults and anyone striving for a deeper understanding of scripture will tend toward a more word-for-word version, of which the ESV and NASB are right up there.

The NRSV isn't far behind in those terms and it's very common in Anglican services. I don't have personal experience with it yet though but it's on my list.

The KJV is second to none.

As for the OT - I agree wholeheartedly. :)

As for the NT - The KJV translation is based
on inferior sources - but the language is
beautiful.

Nevertheless: The best Bible is the one
you really read!!!
