Dear Obob,

I just recently delivered my first baby this week - a baby boy. At age 38 this is a blessing to us as we were unable to previously. Thankfully my boy is doing wonderful, but I had a traumatic week and developed complications from the pregnancy.

I am under extreme pain and I developed a severe skin condition which has prevented me from holding or nursing my son properly. I'm unable to change him, feed him, or even pick him up. Between the pain from surgery, the painful treatments I received, the uncertainty of the skin condition, and the inability to perform as a mother, I am beside myself with depression and fear.

Please pray for me that I heal soon and that they find a diagnosis and treatment for the skin condition. I can't stop crying or feel like my world has ended. :cry:Please ... I can't do this anymore.

Winter

P.S. Pray for my husband too - he is doing everything: taking care of the baby, me, the house, and everything else. He is overwhelmed but has been patient and kind.

Congratulations on the birth of your son. I'm sorry that you've had so many post pregnancy complications. Recovering from a Caesarean is difficult without all the rest of it.

Prayers for you, your husband and your son--that you will recover soon and enjoy what will be a wonderful time in your life.

Congrats on your new lil one. Welcome to the world.

You certainly have my prayers. As do the Dr's. Praying they find out what is wrong and how to correct it. Also to help stop your pain. For your husband, dear man. May God bless you and give you help. Praying for all. :crossrc:

Congratulation on your baby boy!
 just normal hormonal change post pregnancy is enough to depress many new mom, adding those extra challenges sure wouldn't help. hope these complication resolve quickly.

could it be that the complication are related to surgery more then the pregnancy itself? the rash could be an allergic reaction to the anesthetics or latex. do you have a fever with that? if no fever, maybe some anti-histamines can help. i had a bad rash a few years ago and had to take 2 types of anti-histamines for several weeks. if fever, then they should check you for some sort of infection.

prayers for you and your family, and heartfelt hope that it passes quickly so you can look onward to the joy of parenting. also praying for the doctors, to help and guide them to the best treatment for you.

I didn't know you were expecting. Congratulations.

I know what you are going through. I had c sections and know the pain. I' sorry about the skin condition. But I suspect you are dealing wit Postpartum depression a bit- that's worse then the physical pain.

I'll pray for you. I know things will work out and soon things will be back to normal. You'll see.

Thank you all very much for your prayers. Its a trying time right now with the pain (physically and emotionally) and fear. Please keep me continously in your prayers ....

I had an IV in me for several days and loaded with lots of pain killers. For those experienced with c-sections, how long did it take your swollen feet to disappear? I know that can vary with folks. I just feel like if I could walk right now I could at least solve a quarter of the problem. Being imobile will not help me heal.

Again, please keep me in your prayers.

And thank you all for your kind words.

I had 5... they get easer with each one.

I do not remember swollen feet.

You should take a pain pill, let it work and then slowing try to straighten up and walk around.

each day should be a lot better than the last- about a week for the most part you should be okay.

The pain is more likely due to your other issues.

Just keep the incision clean. One time with one of my c section, it was infected and that was painful.

If you still have a lot of the air trapped from when they cut you open, that is what really hurts, its not the actual incision, but the gas pressure from the air. That is a killer as far as pain goes.

You need to walk it out and lay off of any food or drink that will increase this pressure.

From my last son, this ding-bat new young nurse, I have an IV, right? so I will not dehydrate, she tells me to drink up the apple juice and I did becuase as you know, you'd kill for a meal and something to drink after the c section... it was my bad because I should have known not to do this but she tells me to drink as much as I can so I won't dehydrate and stupid me does and Lord, the pain was in my shoulders even, when I tried to move, I thought I broke a bone.

The experienced nurse comes in and say what was I thinking? and the young nurse learned a valuable lesson that day.

So you could be suffering from gas pressure not really pain.

I forgot last night but my best friend has something with her skin when she had her daughter. It was toxins coming out and it gave her horrible bumps and rashes covering her hands and arms and she had trouble holding anything either. They gave her some kind of cream I believe. When pregnancy is done the body lets all kinds of nasty toxins out in different ways - I didnt get bumps or rashes but more sweat and odor and yechy stuff. :/
