My lasting regret about pope Francis.

I learned a few things..

1. Respect the Chair

2. Not everyone is going to agree with the Pope on non doctrinal matters.

3. We don’t always have the whole story.

4. The world is apt to misinform and misinterpret

5. Don’t or try fervently not to judge the Pope when matters are not entirely clear because the Church has always had enemies and skeptics

6. Just pray for the Pope and continue under all tests to Trust the Lord Jesus and His permanent promise.

Peace

I myself have avoided my best to let myself get annoyed by the reports pro or con.
Too many times I feel that the enemy has sown confusion and Pope Leo had a vision for a reason
The papacy of Pope Francis was not a pleasant experience for me.
I found myself 'confused' about the Catholic Church much of the time.

But I learned some things, too ...

- Regardless of who the pope is, the real issue is about abandonment to God. Popes come and go. God ordains or allows those who hold the position. Just like He ordains or allows those who hold positions of authority in the other spheres of our lives. It is in abandoning myself to God ... trusting that He knows what He is doing and allowing ... and believing that He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes ... that I find peace amidst the storms of life.

- It is a sin to murmur and grumble about the things God has ordained or is allowing. (And the Bible has alot to say about the sin of murmuring.)

- Because Pope Francis said and did things that were confusing to me, it became necessary for me to research and learn more deeply about what the Catholic Church actually teaches. For this I am grateful to him.

- The Serenity Prayer remains a good and valuable prayer in my life:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
Amen.

I have not ever said pope Francis is illegitimate. I have said the opposite in fact. I do think he acted many times in heretical ways although I do not have the authority to judge him to be a heretic. I have said he has been a bad pope. Sadly I think that is manifestly true even though he has done a few good things.

The sad thing is that this level of dissent would have been unthinkable under his predecessors.

Frankly, I think it's quite... Something to assume that we know better than the actual pope. The direction in which Francis moved might not have been to someone's taste but we either respect the pontificate, or we don't. There is a marked difference between stating that you have a doctrinal preference for another pope, and calling someone a bad pope. After all, we're a long way from the excesses of the popes of the middle ages.

I much preferred Pope Francis over his predecessor, but I don't think I ever called him a bad pope.

Pope Benedict was called a Nazi and many other vile things by people very happy to have him replaced by pope Francis.

In some things popes do not have any particular expertise. The weather and politics come immediately to mind. Pope Francis has amazed, not in a good way, even bishops and cardinals, and not just little old me. Does he know better than everyone?

I have a doctrinal preference for an orthodox Catholic pope. Other people can have other doctrinal preferences. I respect the office of the papacy enough to expect that the occupant of that office will be true to the office he holds. Pope Francis, though he did not officially teach any heresy from the chair of Peter, did several astounding things that scandalized millions. Who he appointed, who he dismissed, what he said in press conferences, his rough and insulting language, the cover-up of abuse in Argentina, friend of McCarrick and Rupnick and Zanchetta, so many things make it clear to me that he was a bad pope. A pope, a valid pope, but a damaging pope that we will spend a long time recovering from. It's like we ARE in the middle ages again.

The Pope said he cannot change Tradition and his cyclical has said that.

He called for compassion but not change.

Any flaws he had, may we pray for him and any other Popes suffering
