So, what does this mean? Is it official yet? If not, when do they plan to make things official? I assume it will be made official with a concelebrated liturgy. How loing do they think this will be. days, weeks, years? Either way, it seems that the two sides are of one mindset adn this is the biggest obstacle. Now we just need to recognize the Unity that is already there. Praise God! This is such wonderful news and God's presence is defintely obvious!

It seems to me from reading the article from the ROCOR's website that the main obsticles of Sergianism, Ecumenism, and the need to recongnize the glorification of the Royal passionbearers have already been overcome.

It apears that all that is left is for both Synods to agree on the terms in Which the reunion will occur (ie. whether the ROCOR will be an autonomous jurisdiction under the MP, or if it's status will be something else).

But it apears that reunion is no longer a question, It seems that by the will of God it WILL occur.

realizing this is shallow ...

I for one hope they are absorbed into the MP. That would be one less alphabet in the soup in the USA. Might as well get the ball rolling towards an American Orthodox Church.

I totally agree with you! There are way too many jurisdictions in this country, and therefor are too many bishops with overlying areas. When there is finally established an American Orthodox Church with our own Patriach, if we keep the number of bishops this country cumulatively has, each bishop will have a seriously smaller area to govern and will thus be able to have more contact with his parishes and his faithful. This would be a wonderful thing for the Orthodox Church!

I still find it strange that a handful of MP churches still exist in the USA that didn't go OCA or ROCOR. There's a 100+ year old tiny little Moscow Patriarchate church in Brookside, Alabama (30-40 miles north of Birmingham) that is an interesting place. The priest looks Russian, can speak Russian, but has the thickest southern accent in the world. :D

Father Benedict! He's awesome. The first time I heard him celebrate a Liturgy I thought he was Russian, until he started speaking fluent Alabamian at common meal :) The amazing thing about his Russian is that he's completey self taught.

Where did you come across him? Stranger still is that two of the four Orthodox churches in the Birmingham area have Father Benedicts!

His daughter and her family go to my former church in Tennessee. He concelebrates there when he's visiting them.

One cannot speak of administrative unity at all. This is absolutely impossible, even on a practical level. The most we could talk about is communion and concelebration. On my part, I would be happy and grateful to God for Him to allow me to live to see the day and participate in such momentous days–the return of the Rus’ abroad to the homeland, the unification of Russian people around Orthodoxy.
We are not going to see ROCOR disappear, and it would seem by the above statement that today just appeared on the ROCOR web site, it will be just intercommunion, and the real question that needs to be asked what is ROCOR's relations going to be with the OCA the daughter Church of the MP in America? What is the relationship going to be with the MP in Briton? To me its all well and good that they will not call the MP a stooge anymore, but that does absolutely nothing to address the heresy and sin of the jurisdiction mess of Orthodoxy in the West.
