Dear members:
I been experiencing this problem for a while now, as young as I can remember, and I know that this is not normal. I do not know why I moan or groan in my sleep, sometimes for a couple of minutes or an hour. I was praying that this would stop and it hasn't yet. My older sister said I was moaning between 2-3 am Wednesday morning. Please help me I do not know what it is about.

Hi sister jennwiln,

Believe it or not, this problem is rather common amongst people. You see, science has shown that people dream many times a night but rarely recall those dreams. Some are able to better than others, but unless it is a significant dream or disturbing dream...they're easily forgotten by our brain.

Moaning and groaning in sleep is often an indication that you're dreaming and are "talking" in your sleep. What's happening is that you're not actually forming your words so you sound as though you're just moaning or groaning. 2-3am is the most active time of sleep for our dreams; any early morning time is. I know this is probably very frustrating for you and disturbing, but please understand that I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

When you awake, do you feel rested? If so, you're ok. Sometimes sleep problems occur such as sleep apnea or certain sleep disorders, but I don't get the feeling that this is what's happening here. If you feel as though there is a problem with your sleep, I recommend just mentioning it to your local doctor and see what they think. Otherwise, I think you're just experiencing some very conversational dreams! :)

God bless, sister. I hope this helps you!

Can we also pray in our sleep or dreams like what the bible said about the holy spirit groaning or moaning prayers to God? I really do not feel really tired, just going through some issues in my life.

I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised. Just have to keep in my mind that anything is possible with God. The ways He chooses to communicate with us and have us communicate with Him are limitless. Perhaps you are praying in your sleep. :)

I am sorry that you are going through hard times right now. Keep holding on to Jesus, sister and call on His name! He'll always be there with you & for you. Nothing is impossible for Christ! God bless you. :prayer:
