I had a dream last night in which there were locusts everywhere and a voice in the dream told me to look up what the spirtual significance of locusts in a dream were, then I woke up. I cant find any meaning for locusts. But I do know it says in Joel that he will restore the years the locusts have eaten. I like that. Any ideas anyone?
there is much to know about locusts ... the locust (enemy) army in the end times just literally swarms and overwhelms the weak and poor in Christ ...
the actual locust in one of it's stages turns the backbone of their prey to mush ... spiritually, they poison the mind ... render the Christian useless and weary ... battle fatigued, they begin to doubt, lose faith, etc. ... i.e. turns the backbone of Christians to mush ...very much tormentors ...
the kind that truly try the patience of the saints ...
when I read your post these verses came immediately to mind ...
Revealtion 9:2
the trumpets
And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
note: the smoke is the lies and deception ... the flood of lies is in Revelation 12:15
continuing ...
And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
note: there only power is in lies and deceptions ... they can not touch a hair on your head ...
continuing ...
And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have
not the seal of God in their foreheads.
And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and there torment was as the torment of the scorpion, when he stiketh a man.
note: turns their backbone to mush ... we will see much of this in the great apostasy (falling away from the Church) ... can't fall away from something one doesn't belong to ...
continuing ...
And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
note: not going to be pretty ...
continuing ...
And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
note: crowns here translates to turbons ... they are like royalty ... an army ... long hair ...
continuing ...
And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
not priests ... no jewels in the breastplates ...
from these verses we can see much ... spiritually the locust army is the enemy of the Lord's people ... they are here to seek, kill, and destroy ...
one only has to look all over the middle east to hear the swarming ...
on another note ...
it's of great interest to me that the fruits of the Spirit include joy and peace ... anxiety steals the peace and worry destroys the joy ... isn't it odd that the very things produced in locusts also are the very things that affect the 'mood' of many ... depression comes to mind ... and anti-depressants ... so they can literally keep the mood swinging, creating confusion (not of the Lord) and helplessness ... if one is not grounded in the Lord ... and grounded solidly ... depression is rampant all across the world ... one can only speculate, but it sure is something to take note of ...
the verse in Joel that actually goes with these verses is the verse you referenced ...
Joel 2:25
God's response and promise
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
note: the years the enemy stole from you ... these are the four stages of the Kenite (children not of the Lord) ...can't remember off-hand the info behind each (like the locust turning the backbone to mush) ... if I remember correctly, the cankerworm devours, the caterpillar is when it becomes just ravenous and unsatiable in it's appetite to destroy ... it consumes ... can't hlp but think of the Lord's consuming fire here ... it works for us or against us, according to our choices ...
He says He will dry our tears and ther will be no more boken hearts ... I'm reminded of
Jeremiah 30:17
the promised return of the captives
For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, this is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
I have no idea how all this pertains to you personally ... I sure hope this is helpful
may the Lord bless you on the way
