Beneficial or not?

Do you think that this would contribute to your spiritual walk with God? I have listen to the bible while sleeping. It’s the KJV, James Earl Jones voice , and I love it! Eventhough I am sleep for some reason it feeds me mentally and spiritually!

I absolutely believe it works. In fact, I believe that it can actually be better if your waking mind is shut down in sleep, because it conflicts so often with the things of the spirit, especially if you are a new Christian and your spirit man isn't as strong as you would like. I'm not advocating that you give up listening to or reading scripture during the day. Not at all. You can't get too much of the Word!

Listening while you sleep also changes the atmosphere around you, which makes it more difficult for the enemy to attack you in your sleep.

While I haven't used it specifically with the Word, I have used it often with praise and worship music which usually contains the Word.

The cool thing is that it doesn't even have to be loud enough for the natural ear to hear, so you don't have to worry about a roommate or neighbor objecting. Your spirit hears it and even better, the enemy hears it and shrinks back.

After a while, you will start pulling up scripture out of your heart to speak against the enemy when he attacks or places wrong thoughts in your head, and you'll wonder, "Where did that come from? How did I know that?"

I agree that you need to hear it while your awake but I don't believe that is the only way to grow spiritually. Everyday life has taught me something spiritually. I just find it relaxing, mentally and spiritually helpful when I read a certain chapter(s) in the bible and then listen to them while I sleep.

yes, I believe it can be helpful, but we should also take time to listen and study consciously too

I know we can be influenced even when we are asleep. my son was sleeping in the car, and I was having a talk with my sister about smoking or something like that, saying it is unhealthy or etc. my son is 6 years old, and homeschooled, so I know he doesn't have a big vocabulary. When he woke up later, he told someone else exactly what I had been telling my sister in the car about smoking when he saw someone smoking. It just helped me realize even in our sleep our brain is still working

Yes I think it's benefical b/c remember even though your sleep your spirit isn't so even while you are sleeping your feeding your spirit and it also will go mentally.That way your spirit is growing and learning when your not aware of what's going on.Even though you think you might not heard it you are actually taking it in while sleeping

I definitely think its a good idea, I believe your spirit can take in the word while you are sleeping, try it out for a while, I think you will notice a difference in your walk. I'm starting to listen to the word while I sleep as well. I highly recommend it. I use my realplayer to access a website that plays the Alexander Scourby version of the KJV Bible. I have programmed a play list that includes the entire four gospels. If I were to sleep 8 hours, I could listen to all four books in a single night.

When I do, I feel very refreshed.

One of my favorites to play is Jeremy Camp's worship album. Scripture while you are sleeping is an awesome idea. It replaces other noises around, the fan blades, doors opening and closing, those things that are incorporated into your dreams.

Ok...so i bought a clock/cd player for 20 bux....time to burn the bible into cd....

any recommendations on books/chapters? or do you guys follow a certain schedule? do you let it run all night or set it to sleep after a while?
hmmmm.....would love to get proverbs and psalms into my head, spirit, heart, soul...every part of my being...heh

I downloaded John's gospel to listen on my mp3 player. I'll definitely do more books gradually and listen as I work rest and play!

Yes you can feed your spirit even if you are not aware of what is being said. The spiritual things of God are recieved through the spirit not the mind because our carnal mind cannot recieve the things of God. Jesus said ---

John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life

This is why its important not to have bad music, programs, etc coming into your house even if you are not watching it. We don't want to feed our spirit with death. Some just use it for noise. But they should have Christian music and teaching on instead.
