Regarding Judah Smith:

I recently listened to a bunch of his sermons.

Hes young, he dresses differently, he does talk a lot about sports, and his family, but I do see Gospel aspects in his messages.

He has a great sermon on Barabbas, how he compared Barabbas to the sinner, and how Christ was innocent but he got condemned, and while the sinner went free. Beautiful picture of Substitutionary atonement, and I never heard anyone make that comparison before. It's the Gospel message in a way I never heard before.

Was just thinking what people here thought of him.

Never heard of him until now. I would have to listen to more of his sermons before I could comment. I have known about the picture of Barabbas for a long time now. It isn't normally seen by man called preachers though.

Believe it or not even Adam eating the fruit is a picture of the love of Christ for His church. The Bible is full of types and pictures of Christ and His elect. That is actually what the Bible is all about.

If you want to listen to God called preachers I will give you a link:

I would recommend Don Fortner, Darvin Pruit, Todd Nibert but all of the preachers are personal friends of mine and they are all very good.

My issue is he isn't reading Scripture and embellishes what it says to make a better sermon. Jesus didn't die for a better marriage, job or health. That's a distortion of the gospel, but I think if this sermon was reviewed on Fighting for the Faith with Chris Rosebrough it would get a mixed bag of comments. He does present a gospel message but it's sandwiched in with all the other things I mentioned. He's right that Barrabas was released out of love by the Father. I think for a Weslyan or Pentecostal this is a wonderful message of the gospel. I appreciate what is said, but at the very least I cringe at the parts about marriage, job and health. He does do a decent job of showing Christ as the picture of a substitutionary atonement. If this was the type of sermon coming from my previous church, I certainly wouldn't have left over this. There are far far far worse things preached that try to sound foundationally Baptist but are just works righteousness. This certainly isn't that.
