As Christians we are taught to forgive, and when someone strikes you to turn the other cheek. Jesus told us to love our enemies.
I understand this in principle, and the challenge is applying this to our daily life.
I grew up watching Star Wars Episode IV, V and VI as a kid and has star wars movies, toys, books, etc -- maybe not a die-hard fan but I loved those movies as much as anyone. Those 3 movies had action, and were sci-fi; although there were humorous portions or situations, the funny scenes were done in a way to not distract from the over-all movie and it was .... how do describe ... moderately mature humour!?!?
Then years later Lucas decides to create Episodes I, II and III. Millions of fans had waited years for these films.
He inserts Jar Jar Binks into Episode I and ... it was simply beyond horrible.
I simply cannot believe that ANYONE other than perhaps very young children would find that character in any way amusing - in fact Bink's entire race knocked out the 'realism' of the Star Wars universe Lucas had created - the movies became a joke.
I can only assume that these abominations (Episode I, II, III) were filmed this way because perhaps when the idea of the Binks character was proposed, the people working with Lucas were largely 'yes' men and would simply agree with and promote ANY idea that Lucas had, instead of pulling him by the ear when he suggested something as ridiculous as Binks.
Lord help me find the strength to forgive Lucas for putting Jar Jar Binks in Episode I (as well as the hissy-fit anorexic kid that played Anakin/young Vader) this even though he sold the franchise to Disney. Lord have mercy on his soul.
I also pray that when we are in Heaven Lucas will destroy and re-film Episodes I, II and III properly.
