I was wondering if there was a study Bible available that is in line with SDA teachings?

I know there are lots of study Bibles, but I am not sure if there are ones which support SDA teachings or not. I'm asking because I thought it might be helpful as I am starting to learn more about the SDA church and what it believes.

Thats funny... I just received mine from Remnant Publishing, but the KJV.
- Remnant Study Bible KJV (Leather-soft Brown/Black) #RP1074

The cool thing about this latest Adventist study Bible is the chain references... you look up a subject ie: Baptism/Lords Supper, and it gives you the relevent verses to look up... great tool for witnessing when someone asks you a specific question, you can take them to all the verses that speak upon it.

Great minds think alike.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations! :)

You're welcome.

Keep in mind that no matter what Bible you use, whether a study Bible or not, we have to study in such a way that we use the Bible to interpret the verses rather than using verses to interpret the Bible.

I just want to share my problem when studying the bible...

Example I study the book of Genesis and finished studying the book and I will now proceed to Exodus, after how many days I already forget what I have studied in Genesis..How much more if I'm already in Leviticus..

I can only remember some points..Lol :)

Any advice?

Reading the bible is not studying the bible. When we study the bible we are actually researching what the bible says about any particular topic. This is done in order to establish a belief or confirm a belief.

In order to do this we have to study here a little and there a little, line upon line, precept upon precept. Sometimes we have to look up words in their original language to grasp their true meaning and how it applies to what we believe or what we're trying to establish as a belief. In doing this , we will use the whole bible, as well as, historical events as we allow the Spirit to reveal and confirm.

One of the best things you can do is simply keep reading. Take your time and digest what you're taking in. Then when you look to study, determine what you want to study as far as the subject goes, then search the scripture. Take notes too. That helps alot.

Here's a great resource for those that want to search out a word or find the actual verse from a couple of key words that come to our memory...

www.biblegateway.com

The site is de'faulted' to the NIV so pick the version that will better suit your needs....

cough** like the KJV**cough ;)

Stork, it will take time. Our minds only hold so much, but you will be surprised that as you read, study SS lessons, etc. that things will come back to you that you have studied or read.

Also, as much as it is not my cup of tea, Amazing Facts studies are actually pretty good for a source of basic and pure SDA doctrine. Doug Bachelor is pretty consevative. I believe you might be able to fine those studies online, also. i just took a glance, and they have quite a bit you can read online and/or purchase.

The most direct answer is yes. HMS Richards is one of our best and well known (to older members) evangelist/preachers. There are several Bibles available with HMS Richards helps. ABCs (Adventist Books Centers) (search SDA ABC) carry them. There are numerous other aids as well. The book "Bible Readings for the Home" is worth looking into. It is Q&A format with notes. You indicate you are investigating our teachings. You are headed the right way in looking for helps into the Bible. I suggest that in your early study you avoid Bibles with Ellen White helps. Her role in your study will come later. If you search "SDA" online and click on the official SDA site you will see a pull down marked "Adventists Beliefs." See if that goes where you want. The "Fundamental Beliefs" are given in brief, formal form. You will have to overlay on them the love of God behind them. Each section ends with a list of texts from which the statment is derived.

SERIOUS considerations: I am an older member. In my upbringing I was taught the doctines as topics and bunches of "proof texts." God and salvation became more a science. We tended to serve doctrine rather like Saul of Tarsus. In recent years I have found myself recasting those doctrines in the light of their purpose in describing God's love, desires, expectations, and plans - more like Paul and Jesus. I hope you capture His love early - it's a whole lot more fun.

ALWAYS include prayer as part of your study. Your study can be integrated with your prayer as part of your prayer. With your Bible in hand God will answer you. God will answer you in many often suprising ways. You may run across study helps that skew teaching. This policy of integraing prayer will enable you to catch and unravel any side tracks.

Great suggestion Old Student on always premising study with prayer... and throughout if necessary :)

I would not, personally, discourage sister White helps if the person understands and can accept her role as an inspired teacher.

Reading through the Conflict of the Ages series, reading the provided Bible passages and then the inspired detail of those verses, is a beautiful way to read the Bible through and actually be given a broader picture of the love that God has for His people and to see the thread that runs throughout the Bible, Jesus Christ.

It has taken me years - decades - to deal with compilations like Messages to Young People. I have come to make a point of not taking edits and compilations of her work at face value. They can serve as catalogues on topics pointing back to original sources where context and often gentling setting can correct flavors conveyed by the compilations. I have never perused Bibles with EGW helps. In general, I would say that they (any compilation or clippings) are better suited to more advanced students. (Deserving of more discussion - but not here)

You are right that there are wonderful things in the Conflict Series (Patriarchs and Prophets, Prophets and Kings, Desire of Ages, and Great Controversy). The likes of Story of Redemption, Steps to Christ, Christ's Object Lessons, Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing are also very good, full context reading. I would probably recommend Story of Redemption as a good overview. But even then your qualifier, "if the person understands and can accept her role as an inspired teacher" is a well placed qualifier. Being familiar with Bible first greatly helps in growing confidence toward recognizing her as an inspired teacher.

I think I would still rather see understanding of our fundamental teachings derived from the Bible. It is a daunting study but becoming familiar with the Sanctuary is helpful and even key to our history as SDAs. While I have no reservation about full context EGW work, there is a lot of noise about and abuse of her work. Having a good Biblical base is a great help in turning up the squelch on the noise.

(sorry. I'm not too good at short comments)
