Is Linkin Park a Christian Band? Can Christians Listen to Them?

I don't think their lyrics are so much depressing as they are real...everyone feels that way...the song Numb is exactly how I felt about my relationship with my ex, so was another one that says "i've tried so hard and come so far"...i can't remember how that one goes exactly, but sometimes it is good to wallow...listen to music that fits your situation, or whatever and move on and they are great to relate to.

I agree. Their lyrics may be on the negative side, but they are very real subjects that a lot of people deal with. The book of Ecclesiastes is the same way. And also, a lot of their songs deal with overcoming difficult situations, which is a very good thing in its own.

Those can be applied to anything.

And saying:

inkin Park is far better for a Christian to listen to then lets say Mercy of fate(also known as King Diamond)

Is no reason to listen to listen to something... either something is totally wrong listen to, or totally fine. There is no, "well, it's better than this, so it's okay".

That's where you come in and tell people the answer. :)

I listen to Santana, Evanscence, LP, Javier, Billie Holliday, Peter Tchaikovsky, Musiq, Alicia Keys, Charlie Parker, Lauryn Hill.. and they don't confess Jesus in their music (and they do not blaspheme Him or curse or advocate unGodly things in their music), but as a musician, I enjoy their music greatly!

The majority of the music I listen to is Christian - rap, rock, pop, dance, reggae, etc.

It depends on your preference. While I do not listen to things w.profanity or things that advocate premarital sex, etc, I DO listen to other secular music. I see nothing wrong with it.

If you feel that way, fine, but you can't force others to feel that way, sweetie.

As far as LP, if you will look at their credits, they thank God.

Would listening to classical and jazz be wrong since they don't bring Jesus in the picture?

First of all LP doesn't say what God they are thanking.
And classical music isn't bad when it doesn't bring in Jesus because they don't say anything at all.

Well your original post asked for opinions and I gave mine :) I see nothing wrong with listening to them. They don't convict me.

If it convicts you, praise God, but it doesn't convict me :)

As far as your statement on 'not saying what God', well.. I've realized most religions refer to God in their own way :)

linkin park sings about things that happen to a lot of people and they are expressing what they think about it. i feel like i can refer to the part of the song numb where it says "all i want to do is be more like me and be less like you". i know they arent a christian band but, some, if not all are christians.

um, why in the world would i do that? I don't want people to hate me or disagree with me. It just that I really like the sound Linkin Park makes, but the lyrics confuse me. They are confusing to me because I don't get why they sing about such negative things. But, anyway, I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted some other peoples opinions other than me own, so ThankU to all and have a nice day!! :D
