Only to save a butterfly j/k ~.^ (inside joke, if you don't catch it, I'm not explaining it to you -^.^- )

Seriously, I see no problem with killing bugs. I live in one of the summer bug capitals of the world (Southern California) and here, it's war. If you've ever seen a line of ants running from the kitchen to your bedroom, ten moths and mosquitoes fly in when you open a door at night, or walked through a virtual storm of gnats, you don't debate bug ethics-you find bug spray, insect repellent, swatters, and anything else you can throw at them.

On the other hand, I wouldn't pull the wings off flies or something like that, that's just sadistic. :(

I believe in respecting all life. Bugs and spiders were created by God with love and with a purpose. To kill without cause (fear and because bugs are "gross" are not causes) is disrespectful to the Creator. I feel sorry for those who express their "dominion" over God's creation through killing.

If a bug is in your house don't kill it, set it free. Your spirit will benefit.

Live and let live.

Hi Stryper,

I really don't believe you can pull out a phrase from the Bible to prove it's ok to kill spiders.
Personally, I kill any insects that gets too close to my orchids. I'm more agressive when my orchid has buds or is blooming...like a mother dog protecting her puppies...grrr....

Personally, it's not wrong to kill spiders, but remember you have to respect the other Christian as well. Maybe he see's another side of the argument...

But in my room, I encourage spiders, because of the fungi knats that I have so much trouble getting rid of. So if you were in my room, and you killed a spider....then I'd show you my swords hidden under my bed to scare you....lol.....kiddin, but spiders play a large role in my room.

I've handled with huntsmans, which is poisonus and they're free to stay in my room during winter where it's warmer and provided they don't bite me....if they bite others...I don't care....nah kiddin again, I'll squish him for ya....lol

I don't agree with squishing bugs just because they're ugly. They can't help what they look like. Now, if they bite or are poisonous or eat your food and clothing and your house then go ahead and exercise some dominion over them.
The best way to get rid of unwanted bugs is to eliminate whatever attracts them. So, keep your house dusted and vaccuumed and get rid of clutter where they can build their nests. Then you won't have to deal with them as much.

Where's a Raid representative whne you need one? lol

If I were a mosquito, Jesus would be the first person I'd bite, that way I could have the Savior's blood in me as a bug :D

Honestly, I think it's okay to squish bugs. Just not to hastily on the poisonous ones lest ye be bitten! But in Genesis, God talks about us smashing serpents heads with our heels. Why are bugs so much more important than that?

Besides, I don't hear them complaining!

I don,t think it's wrong to kill bugs that are harmful or poisensess, I mean, if you got a black widow or squirpen in your house, you can,t afford to get stung or bitten, you could get very sick or worse. I don,t go around squishing bugs on purpose. I've even freed a few bugs befor. I like picking up cattlerpillars and ladybugs and letting them craw on my hand.

I think God gave us some bugs for are enjoyment, like the butterfly and things like that, I think God has given us discerment to know which bugs are ok and which are not our friend. I don,t approve of killing a bug or doing and experiment on bugs that can,t bring us no harm.

I don't believe the Bible says anything about killing insects. I kill flies and mosquitos whether they are biting me or not, to avoid biting or dirtying my food, etc. I am also afraid of spiders and would kill one if it were near me (maybe pcik it up and throw it out if it was little). Does your friend believe in reincarnation? Those who do might think that spider was an aunt or uncle or someone else. I'm serious. That's one of the reasons rats run rampid in India. Many people believe they are or could be a relative. Don't feel guilty. I don't thin the Lord is upset with you. Have a great evening.

You have to look at insects as beings with some gifts from God. The spider web might be of your hating, but who knows....I find it very cool looking!

Having too much webs does make my room a bit spooky, which is why I have just one web. Anymore webs and I'm using the stick and making a matchstick with it.

You can smack an insect or spider, but just remember, God knows you killed an insignificant being.
Might not be wrong, but God knows!

Oh I'm not scary enough...

I agree completely with two feathers. I think if there's a reason, it's okay... i.e. You're going to eat it, or because it's a mosquito and you're afraid of West Nile, etc...
