I'm sorry I just don't know where exactly a topic like this should go. Hope you can shed some light on this issue. Is downloading movies/music etc considered to be a sin?

Or sharing movies music games programs etc? using p2p or emule or kazaa etc. being disobedient to God's will for believers?

Would Jesus use bittorrent or emule and download stuff?

Is the file allowed to be downloaded ?

I.E. If I put a song I create on the net with the authority to offer downloads, then it's legal for you to download with out issue.

But if your downloading the new songs from "Casting Crowns" and they have NOT authorized any one to download it (i.e. you'r downloading it from a "fan" site) then it's probabbly illigal.

So can I take it that anything illegal is sin?

No, just because it's illegal (according to man) dose not make it a sin. Rember the firry furnace ?

They did not bow down (Breaking man's law aka illigal action) but did not sin, infact if they did obay that law they would of been sinning.

U. S. copyright law prohibits the unauthorized duplication, performance or distribution of a creative work.

That means you need the permission of the copyright holder before you copy and/or distribute a copyrighted music, video, movie recording.
This also applies to software, artwork, written pieces like poems etc.

Copyright law protects the value of creative work
When you make illegal copies of someone’s creative work, you are stealing and breaking the law.

And that is a sin.

Everyone else answered yes. But you say no. Why?

Didnt a line from the bible go "As it is on Earth, so shall it be in Heaven?"

Do you mean the line from the Our Father:

"Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven."

It is a prayer that God's will be done on earth - that earth can be more holy like Heaven.... not that Heaven should be like earth. :)

My two cents:
Depending on whether or not the EULA of the game, movie, music, etc, permits you to download and/or redistribute it for free. Most games, movies, and music, are illegal to download for free and definitely more illegal to distribute (for or without profits). In effect, when you get those kinds of stuff for free without paying for it (if you are required to do so) then you are stealing from the producer or manufacturer of the product or music. BIT Torrent and other such things is just stealing products without paying for it (obatined from someone else's computer) as no money goes back to the producer, artist, or owner of the product. For LAN parties I may allow my friends to use my games, but I will insist that they uninstall the game after the LAN party has finished.

Probably..the problem is social justice(I'm for 5-6 hours for day about manual labour, practically a good half day to be more free........................... ).

S.Paul says in 1Tim. 5, 18: "For the Writings say, It is not right to keep the ox from taking the grain when he is crushing it"
