wondering about this. also, what does it mean?

I guess you refer to Revelation 2:5, from the letter to Ephesus: Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

Revelation 1:20 tells us that "lampstand" in this part of Revelation means "church": As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

So "removing the lampstand" means that the church in that city disappears. And the lampstand of Ephesus was removed -- these words have been fulfilled. Today, all that remains of the city of Ephesus is ruins:

Of course, the warning continues to apply to other churches that are like Ephesus. They may also be removed if they abandon their first love.

does it have something to do with the virgins and the oil?

Not at all.

There might be a connection to Luke 8:16-18, however (the same Greek word is used): No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. ... Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.

that is very interesting. I have learned a bit. though I am still confused about the Luke verses though. is the lamp the individual Christian, and the one who hears the Word and receives it in good soil? and then the lampstand the church, as in they will be put in the church? and if they are in a church, but are not saved, they may be put out? these are just questions, in no way to be taken as fact.

In Revelation the lampstands are definitely individual churches. In Luke, the lamps seem to refer to individual Christians. Luke is saying that Christians should shine publicly, and warning about what might happen if they don't. The letter to Ephesus seems to be saying a similar thing, but about that individual church as a whole.

All 7 lights of the lamp-stand were extinguished from the Temple in 70ad.......

Jer 25:10
‘Moreover I will take from them
the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness,
the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride,
the sound of the millstones
and the light of the lamp.

John 5:35
He was the burning and shining lamp,
and you were willing for a time to rejoice in His light.

Rev 18:23
“The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore,
and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore.
For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived.[Jeremiah 25:10]

Exo 27:20
“And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives
for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually.

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

History records few events more generally interesting than the destruction of Jerusalem, and the subversion of the Jewish state, by the arms of the Romans. -- Their intimate connexion with the dissolution of the Levitical economy, and the establishment of Christianity in the world ; the striking verification which they afford of so many of the prophecies, both of the Old and New Testament, and the powerful arguments of the divine authority of the Scriptures which are thence derived ; the solemn warnings and admonitions which they hold out to all nations, but especially such as are favoured with the light and blessings of REVELATION
