I have heard several times that homosexuality is observable in nature and that several different types of animals tale part in such behaviour. I do not wish to discuss homosexuality in any way, shape or form. I only want a list of types or species of animals that actually take part in homosexual intercourse.

For example, if someone tells me that two male penguins pair up to raise an offspring but do not participate in H. sex, then that doesn't count. That's just best friends working for a common goal. I'm afraid I need cold hard evidence of animals that sodomize each other willingly, not just some example of a horny dog.

Why am I looking for such a list in creation evolution forum? Many argue that because homosexuality is observeable in nature that its natural and normal. However, arguably, I find it difficult to believe that there are animals put there that honestly take part in such behaviour willingly as I believe they are smarter than that.

Wikipedia has a good page on this with plenty of references and the list you requested

Horny dogs try to sodomize humans too so I think you will get mostly examples of horny animals that are just going through the motions.

Before I proceed, I would like to know what you would accept as "evidence".

Evidence would be two animals having been observed in a "committed" homosexual intercourse relationship. By committed I mean that it doesn't count if a dog goes over and tries to hump the neighbor's dog which happens to be another male.

I want proof of animals that have chosen to have homosexual intercourse in favor of heterosexual intercourse when the opposite sex is available for mating.

Two males (or two females) that take care of an egg or an offspring, but not having sex, are not homosexuals. I could go with a term like homonurturing, but without the "sexual" part there is no homosexual.

Thank you. I read the article. It seemed to indicate that there wasn't long term homsexuality in the animal kingdom, but rather opportunistic horniness.

And you have just admitted that no amount of reasonable evidence would convince you.

There were examples of homosexuality that was not critter horniness. It seems that the sort of evidence that would convince you is the sort that would get the supplier of it in trouble with the authorities here.

And this quote from only the second paragraph of that Wiki article puts the lie to your claim:

""About 10% of rams (males) refuse to mate with ewes (females) but do readily mate with other rams."[9]"

In one kind of animal, sheep. And I am sure it is a certain type and species of sheep. And all of the rest of the millions of different species of animals, they found one. And that was only 10% of one kind. So 90% of one kind doesn't do it and we have no other examples to list in all the rest of the animal kingdom, so no, no lie.

This would have been the strangest request anyone could make..you have to remember that animals have sex by instinct whether it be with the same sex or not..

You separate relationships from "opportunistic" sex, and say that things like pair-bonding and what you called "homo-nurturing" are not what you are looking for, and neither is a dog humping the dog next door. That makes it easy to reject any example given you. If there is sex "it's just sex, not a homosexual lifestyle. If it is a lifestyle, it is not sexual (except for the occasional "opportunisim" -- no way is it a real example of what you asked for) So you can then say with a straight face that there are no examples of true homosexual lifestyles in the animal kingdom.

Are you, perhaps, moving the goalposts?

You started with "I find it difficult to believe that there are animals put there that honestly take part in such behaviour willingly as I believe they are smarter than that."

You have been shown, and apparently agree, that sheep take part in such behavior.

Therefore, at least your original statement was false.

Wrong. You said "there wasn't long term homsexuality in the animal kingdom". That was only one example given from the article. I am sure I could find more.

You are being dishonest by trying to change what you said after the fact.

Guess what, 90% of humans don't practice homosexuality either. Does that mean there is no homosexuality among humans?^_^^_^^_^

In one kind of animal, sheep.

Also giraffes. There are more gay giraffes than straight giraffes. Up to 94% of giraffe intercourse is homosexual. Pretty wild, I know.

Black swan male couples will steal eggs from hetero couples and raise them as their own. So there you go homophobes, your fears are justified - the gays are totally out to steal your children... if you're a swan!

And there's that species of lizard that is entirely female, and must engage in homosexual mating behavior in order to stimulate ovulation of cloned eggs. No lesbian lizard action, no eggs.

And of course we all know what those bonobos get up to.

Suffice to say, homosexual behavior exists in the animal kingdom. It may occur for a variety of reasons - release of tension, resolving disputes, building inter-pack bonds, establishing dominance, 'opportunistic horniness', relaxation, fun, and who knows maybe even actual, genuine affection.

As with most human behaviors paralleled by animals, they have their own spin they put on things. But it's there, and those who like it, like it a lot.

I'll leave you now with what I think we all really came into this thread to see - Ricky Gervais cracking jokes accompanied by gay animal pornography!
