I am so excited. I've never actually HEARD the correct Hebrew way of pronouncing Shekinah. I've always pronounced it like "shee-kie-na" with "kie" rhyming with pie and "na" rhyming with ya. I was listening to an interview with Deepak Chopra and he pronounced it "shek-he-na" which sounds more like Hebrew. ^_^ "Shek" rhyming with peck with "he" sounding like it spells and "na" rhyming with ya. Wow, now I know how to say the Divine name correctly

Hi Shekinah:
Thanks for this tidbit of info. Appreciate it. Actually, I wanted to research something about shekinah for myself and I see you've started a thread (on the pronunciation)
but---same subject. I'm curious about the laying on of hands. Paul seems to have received his authority from his encouter with the Shekinah Glory on his road to Damascus. While others think that there is only one way to pass on authority. What does the bible say about this?

What scripture concerning Paul and the laying of hands are you referring to? :)

Actually--I'm not. I am following up on a thought about authority. Mormons generally believe that authority is passed by the laying on of hands. Paul did not receive the hands. He did have the unique shekinah glory experience and God told Ananais to go meet him and heal him. Ananais laid his hands on him, (Paul) but I read that it was done for the purpose of healing vs the passing on of authority. But, Paul clearly got authority. So--what about that? Are there other avenues for passing authority beside the laying on of hands? I'm not putting you on the spot, Shekinahs. I would like to know if anyone has researched this and if they have Scriptures for this. Thanks.

The word "shekinah" never appears in the O.T. Here is the closest word, the name of a man.

4) son of Arah, father-in-law of Tobiah who opposed Nehemiah
5) a priest who returned from exile with Zerubbabel

I see. :)

The laying of hands, especially on the head, in the old testatment was done as a way of consencrating or to transfer properties from one to another.

Exodus 29:15-16 "Take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head. Slaughter it and take the blood and sprinkle it against the altar on all sides."

Leviticus 16:21 "He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites-all their sins-and put them on the goat's head. He shall send the goat away into the desert in the care of a man appointed for the task."

Numbers 8:10-11 "You are to bring the Levites before the LORD , and the Israelites are to lay their hands on them. Aaron is to present the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the Israelites, so that they may be ready to do the work of the LORD . "
The only other method I know of is anointing.

Exodus 29:7-9 "Take the anointing oil and anoint him by pouring it on his head. Bring his sons and dress them in tunics and put headbands on them. Then tie sashes on Aaron and his sons. The priesthood is theirs by a lasting ordinance. In this way you shall ordain Aaron and his sons. "

You're kidding with this right  . Shekinah is a Hebrew word. As a matter of fact Hebrew is in symbols so in order for anybody to read the name with letters the name had to be translated. So the spelling may shift.
