Yes you need a doctor to help you with the right medication. It seems that the serotonin drugs are not right for you, and too much serotonin can be harmful. It is the same receptor stimulated by LSD and psilocybin, so if they are not working, I would be careful.

I would keep you off the serotonin reuptake inhibitors for a while and try a short acting drug like Ativan or a little longer acting klonopin.

If that makes you too sedated, then a beta blocker such as tenormin or metoprolol may help

Your situation would require adjusting and proper evaluation. I wish I was near you and could help.
Many doctors just read the primary effect of a medication and forget about how it does what it is supposed to do, so that side effects may be considered. Even an alpha blocker like minipress has been known to reduce nightmares and anxiety, it’s not all serotonin

Have you tried melatonin for sleep? If so, ok, but if not it is over the counter and you can take it nightly if it helps. Max dose is 10mg, if it does not help you sleep, do not take more as it will give you irritability, headaches and aggravate anxiety/depression. At low effective doses it produces restful sleep that does not leave you feeling drugged, and the sleep will heal a lot of your anxiety

Everyone is different and you need someone to find what works for you

How about trying to find a nursing home or rehab facility phone number and just call and ask what kind of insurance they take....

try to begin to just gather the information and start to ask them questions over the phone....there is probably going to be someone there who can help you to figure out power of attorney, such as a social worker?

I always drink chamomile tea before bed. It helps me sleep usually. But I’d talk to my doctor first before trying it.
That's a very important point you make. I'm glad you mentioned it.

Before trying any new treatments, supplements, etc., one should consult with their doctor. Some supplements are pretty safe, but others may not 'mix' well with one's prescribed medicines or medical conditions.

OR just let the doctors know the reality that you have no authority from your father to speak for him or act in his behalf legally or financially or medically. This IS the reality, and it keeps you from overstepping your father's wishes. If the medical staff think, in their professional judgement that he is not competent to represent himself then they will initiate a legal move to have a state appointed guardian for him to negotiate with the medical staff whether he stays in the hospital, goes to rehab, or goes home with some sort of in home care. You do NOT have to be that guardian and you could even refuse to be guardian. It might be good to have a trained and capable guardian who has experience with the legal and financial and medical issues take this on. You could talk with this guardian as an equal in figuring out your future. So much more to say, but do not presume that you need to fix everything. You can declare that you were as the Christian daughter of a Muslim man never entrusted with any say in his future. It's true. If the medical team thinks he is not mentally competent then the court of law will find a guardian to have a say in his future. You can pray for him and visit him and be relieved of the burden of all the rest of it because that burden was never given to you.

Medicaid can technically help but I hope I don't have to sell this house in order to do it :|
I can tell you about our experiences with Medicaid.

We were able to get my MIL on Medicaid for the last year of her life. That provided her with part-time in-home nursing care, which worked very well since we couldn't be there with her in the house 24/7. And the nurses were good to monitor her vitals, etc. We had regular meetings with her caseworkers, as issues would arise. They really were all very helpful, but at no time were we told that we would need to repay them for any services received, after my MIL died.

A few months after she passed away, we received a bill in the amount of $25,000, for that year (2019) of part-time in-home nursing care. Fortunately, she did own her home (mortgage free), and so we sold it quickly. We didn't mind selling the home to pay for her care, but we just weren't expecting the bill. That was a mistake on our part, not to understand how Medicaid/Medicare works in our state.

Sorry guys for not responding yet; I can't really focus today. I want to try. I'm not worse than yesterday or anything, at least I can say that.
