Like any fascist, Putin uses threats and hopes trhe world will subject to his wishes.
But I don't think he will start a WW III.

Putin isn't going to allow a western puppet president in Ukraine, with his naval base is in Crimea

The West has no plan to replace Zelenskiy by a western puppet president. It is Putin who wants to replace him.

The Naval base was in no danger until Putin robbed the Crimea from the Ukraine. The Ukrainian people will not allow a russian naval base there, if theya got the Crimea back.

and NATO isn't going to put missile bases 300 miles from Moscow?

The NATO removed missile bases from Turkey in 1963, as a part on the deal that solved the Cuba crisis. Why should NATO deploy missiles so much nearer to Moscow, unless out of fear of Russia?

Not every NATO member has nukes. Only three have: USA, F, and UK.

Well, Putin keeps talking about nuclear war, so it sounds like he wants one. Fortunately, if he tries it he’s likely to earn a bullet from the more sensible elements of the Russian government before he pushes any buttons.

Until then we can keep watching Russian military equipment be blown up by a country whose army was given two weeks to hold out against the initial invasion forces. And if Russia actually manages to install a puppet government, well, we all know how well that worked out in Afghanistan.

Russia has no interest in joining the EU, has openly violated the principles of the Council of Europe and thus was kicked out, and as for the EPC, there are no real seats there anyway. But even if they were, the members agree to the same set of values, values which Russia has time and again shown they don't share.

I'm not sure what difference you make between the "European Union" and the "European political community", since the EU has incorporated several institutions, the last one was the WEU, which is formally dead, but survives as the common defense policy of the EU.

Ukraine wanted to be in the EU., there are talks about that subject, and if the Ukraine meets the standards of the EU (economically, and politically, e.g. less corruption), she will become a member. If Russia wants to become a member of the EU, let Putin formulate a formal request, and then there will be talks about that.

As to the Council of Europe, Ukraine and Russia are already members. But the membership of Russia has been suspended, because she has turned into a dictatorship (according to this Swiss website, Putin is a textbook fascist and has turned Russia into a fascist state). When Russia turns back to democracy, it will again become a full member with »seats«.

So tell your wish that Russia needs seats to Putin, and ask him that he allows Russia to become democratic again … as to Ukraine: She already has seats in the European council, and is on the way into the EU (though it seems to be a long way until she becomes a member there).

You mean, the Democrats block the 6-billion-dollar military aid for the Ukraine that the Republican demand desperately? According to the German News I watch this is somewhat different.

Do you speak of the democratic party and its sympathizers/voters/…? Why would the China-Taiwan conflict or the civil war in Sudan stop when this party is wiped off? Or any other international conflict?

Or do you speak of democratic countries? I can't see that monarchies or dictatorships are more peaceful than democracies. Democratic states are not as peaceful as they think they are, but dictatorships are worse (look at Jenghis Khan and Hitler for extreme examples, or at Iraq or Russia for current ones).

No I mean values such as democracy, diplomacy, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights. These are things that are central to European identity, and they are things that Russia under Putin has repeatedly shown disdain for.

You do realize that not everybody is obsessed with the American culture war issues right? Many European countries restrict abortion and disallow same-sex marriage. As a matter of fact, on the books at least, Russia is less restrictive in abortion than several US states. There are many many other human rights violations Russia is guilty of.
