I am thinking of the scripture that says "apart from Christ Jesus, I can do nothing". (paraphrased quote -- sorry I don't have the scripture reference).

So yes, all the glory goes to him forever and ever!

It would be cool to put together some scriptures regarding pride and humbleness.

Great topic and thread! Thanks!

I hope to post more later, but you've started with the first step toward humility: SEEK IT! Since we are commanded to be humble, we should prize this character trait rather than adore it as a distant trophy. We must purposely seek humility.
Psalms 36:7-11 (KJV) 7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
10 O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

I suspect that dying to self, and acknowledging the presence of God in everything is another of the first steps. May His Holy Spirit guide us into humility!

Love and peace,
EarthMomma

humbling yourself doesnt mean thinkin urself as useless or something. its a big mistake. doesnt mean u have to walk around and think that u are nothing and stuff.
the important thing about humbling urself is that you allow Gods will to be done and not your own.
pride.. thats when u want to do things ur own way.. and not listenin to God. awknowelding his power is higher than yours and obeyin. Know to submit your will.
in james and many parts of da scripture.. it says humble yourself and God will lift you up. what does this mean?
for example.. u want to go up a mountain.. and u have your own way to go up. but if u humble yourself.. and let Gods will be done, his way to be done, it means steppin back/down into his hands thats below you.. and his hands will put u on the top of the mountain. also... remember to serve other ppl.
sorry for such a long reply

God has recently been revealing stumbling blocks in my relationship with Him (Praise the Lord:clap: ). The most recent has been pride. So what I know is that I now need to give glory to Him and humble myself to Him.

So how can we humble ourselves?
I took a risk once (twice, and a few more times and I am sure I will again) and have asked Yeshuah to accomplish this in me....to not let anything in me exalt itself against Him...and He has graciously honored this prayer and I pray He will continue to do so.

May He receive all praise and honour

Rom 12:2 And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
I have found that asking God to renew my mind has gone a long way toward my humility. All of us, no matter how long we have been devoted to Jesus, still have our paradigm askewed according to this worlds influences. Admitting this to God and asking Him to reveal this to us is one form of humility.
May God make us all worthy of His calling and finish our resolves for good and acts of faith by His power! Snowfloater

Pride is ignorantly or deliberately neglecting to give thanks to The One we owe it all to .

For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? <-----> 1st Corinthians 4:7

Therefore , to abstain from being seduced by deceitful feelings of pride ... When things go well and we seem to be on top of a situation , remember to give thanks unto God and our Lord Jesus , and the temptation will flee away .

And amazingly , giving thanks ,( with specific understanding , of what we are thankful for ) , also causes feeling of gloom to disappear , if things have not been going well , and we're tempted to wallow in circumstancial negativity .

Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. <-----> 1st Chronicles 16:8

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. <-----> 1st Chronicles 16:34

Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. <-----> Psalm 30:4

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. <-----> 1st Thessalonians 5:18

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; <-----> Ephesians 5:20

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
<-----> 2nd Corinthians 4:5-7

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
<-----> 1st Corinthians 2:1-5

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: <-----> Colossians 1:12

[ For ] Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. <-----> Proverbs 16:18

And as is the case , the great travesty of being in the wrong , is that during that time , what is right was being ignored / neglected .

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
<-----> John 15:1-5 ( Words of Jesus )

Also , a major reason why pride becomes so unattractive , is that The Lord does show , with Great Consisterncy , that whenever pride rises up , something promptly comes along to knock us back down .

Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him. <-----> Job 40:11

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. <-----> Job 40:12

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. <-----> Proverbs 16:5

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. <-----> James 4:6

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
<-----> 1st Peter 5:6+7

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. <-----> Colossians 3:14

Thankyou Lord !!!

Being humble means that you recognize beyond the shadow of doubt, that the Lord is in control of the affairs of men, He owns the heavens and earth and eveything within, He loves you and cares about every detail of your life.

God called Moses "the most humble man in all the earth"...Study Moses' life and you will see why.

Be blessed on your exciting journey with our Lord and savior!

To acknowlege God at all times and in all things is one way to become humble. For it really is ALL about Him.

As we constantly acknowledge Him, through prayer and praise, we get to know Him. And when we KNOW Him, we can't help but want others to know Him as well.

For I know whom I have believed. And I am persuaded (beyond all doubt) that He is able to keep that which I commit to Him! He will do it. I can't but He will.

Humility is power. It is the power of HIS love that keeps us humble.

PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME, FOR HE IS LORD OF ALL!

man i want to know God like Moses knows God.
My dear one, you know that His Word says He will give you the desires of your heart! Isn't that exciting?

We all have the ability to know God because of our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives in us by the virtue and power of the Holy Spirit. We can come into His presence! WoW All you have to do is ask in faith (abiding in Him and His Word abiding in you)!

I love your holy boldness. I join you in shouting to the King: SHOW ME YOUR GLORY! for that is how Moses got to see it.

Love and peace,

Very good observation and suggestions lilymarie. And I wonder if you might get some encouragement from a thread that discusses this very thing. http://www.christianforums.com/t105706-please-share-on-the-topic-of-judgmentalism-and-anger-and-pride.html#post2044995

I hope we can continue this thread I had not realized how much this thread would help to draw closer to Him.

I believe that the most humbling thing is to realize that our Abba wants us to come before him without shame, fear, condemnation, but altogether couragous. Trusting that he truly loves us.
