I know a family who fundraised for more than one adoption
their last gofundme got $40,000 which was even more than cost of adoption

it took us 7 yrs to save to adopt & we never would have fundraised

now I see an article in paper about them
it said people are leaving wads of cash on their doorstep
cause during pandemic they had trouble with their business

how do I stop obsessing over this?

Let it go. Concentrate on your own life. If you constantly compare yourself to others it will just make you miserable. Forget social media that just saps your spirit, energy and time. Do something with meaning to yourself instead.

If you constantly compare yourself.

I don't compare myself to them

just that I know they've received well over $100,000 with all their gofundme

now they're putting themselves in newspaper with family pic as a way to garner more money

How does that affect your life in any way ?

Young women nowadays can earn 100000 $ a month by getting naked on only fans. Prize fighter gets a million or two by getting knocked out in 10 seconds at high stake match. Politician with insider knowledge makes millions with corruption.

If you lose your cool every time over such things you it will get miserable for you.

it seems like they're professional fundraisers for themselves
and it's got in my head

whenever the thought come across your head, you might want to get busy and do something you like instead of focusing on the thought.

You"re right to recognize it needs to get out of your life.

Gal 5 contains a list of works of the flesh which we all have to guard against.

I would repent of jealousy and bitterness then asks the Lord to remove it. Thank Him that He helped you to have the funds for your adoption. That you have a precious child. Asks Him to bless other adoptions.

Then the next Gal 5 Scripture list the fruit of the Spirit (capitalized means God's Spirit) includes peace. There's different types of peace but as followers of Jesus - He said "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27 How wonderful is that - have God's peace.

it's not just the money
it "seems" they take advantage of their kids as a way to get money

their one kid's special need is visible & they put her pic on their business website

Hi @mama2one

how do I stop obsessing over this?

Psalm 73 is your answer. Yes, in this life, the wicked often prosper. After all, Jesus told us that the world would love those who are of the world. Pray that the children that are taken in by these adoptions receive some of the blessing from all of the money that is taken in.

There are issues that go on every day in this world that, if one focuses on them, will tend to drive one to anger and despair. But as for you, live a life that is pleasing before God. God doesn't ask His children to 'fix' the world's problems. He merely asks us, those who are His children, to live a life that honors Him and tell others how they might find His salvation. If we believe the Psalmist, the world's been filled with wickedness for a long, long time and our best peace regarding such concern is to trust that God will do what is right and, at His time, judge in righteousness.

God bless,
Ted

Hi again @mama2one

My wife brought an action for divorce against me nearly 2 years ago. The day she made the decision, I remember her telling me that I'd better get a good lawyer because she had the best.

Well, now some 22 months later, her attorney has failed to secure a divorce. Allowing the action to be dismissed for lack of activity. Her attorney then ran off with over $200,000.00 of our money that a judge had ordered to be put in a trust, which he held. The attorney, of course has been suspended and disbarred and his practice shut down, but we will neither one ever see that money again.

Now, I have a choice. I can spend my days obsessing over the loss of that money and get angry and resentful that it happened. Or I can merely turn it over to God, trust that despite the loss He will still care and provide for me, and continue to live my life without even worrying about it. I choose the latter. My son tells me that she is seething with anger and proclaiming to everyone near and far how angry she is. I have peace. It's a choice, but it can sometimes be hard to accomplish in one's soul.

I would caution though, that this issue that you bring up hasn't anything to do with you and it isn't really your concern. Their are wicked people getting away with stealing and robbing people all the time. If you choose to obsess over such things as that, you're likely to find yourself in an early grave.

God bless,
Ted

Hi @mama2one

sorry about the loss of so much money

Thank you for your concern, but I truly have allowed God to take it and He has given me peace. He still provides for me every day and blesses me in so many ways that I hardly have time to even think about it. I have even prayed for the attorney as I've heard that his health is not good. It may be the reason that he made this move, as, from what I understand, he was in his day a fairly reputable attorney and has practiced law for most of his life. So, this is something that I tend to want to be graceful about and understand that he just got himself in a jam that he couldn't get out of without taking the money.

God bless,
Ted

I do this myself. Really annoying! Just when I think I'm over it, it pops back in my head.

That being said......

The obvious answer is to pray the Holy Spirit take it away! Jealousy is the worst of all emotions. Secondly , focus on your personal journey through the process of adoption. Eventually there was a very happy ending, right? Though there are many paths to reaching a desired goal, we can not judge how one achieves it.
Let God do that.
Blessings

thanks everyone for your advice!
will read your recommended Bible verses
also, will only focus on the 5 children who seem happy

I'll try to not think of the parents & their constant need to fundraise & put themselves out there with interviews/newspaper articles
