Too long!!! ^_^

Most masses around here last anywhere from 50 minutes to 1hr and 5 minutes.

Palm Sunday, and Christmas are longer.

Daily mass is about 30-35 minutes (not a long homily, not many people for communion).

cheers

My school is Anglican and we have to go to chapel at school on Sunday twice a year. The service usually last about an hour and half -but it seems a lot longer. To put it bluntly, it's boring. It's also extremely politically correct.

At the baptist church that my family went to when I little was about 2 hours long, it too was boring. The sermons where often about the same thing each time and the minister was not a good speaker, it was all in monotone.

At the non-denominational (at it's roots it's Presbyterian, but every one is welcome) church I go to now, the Sunday services last 2 hours. But it's not boring... The minister is a very good speaker and sometimes asks people other people to speak, he also involves the congregation a lot in his sermons.

Going to church is often thought as being dull (and it often is...) but I think I depends on the church that you go to and on your mind set and personality type (I like it to be less formal with a band and discussions, etc. while my sister likes things to be more formal)

Our worship doesn't last long enough...about one hour. Our pastor is very engaging and I love to listen to him. I just love the whole experience of worshipping with other Christians. :)

The worship team starts with music and song to gather everyone in. I'm not really sure how many songs we sing but I just love it. We sing mostly contemporary worship songs like one might find on the WOW worships cds.
Then our pastor speaks and opens with a prayer. Often we have a prayer with everyone joins hands. He draws me into his sermons and it is such a different experience for the dry, boring pastor I grew up with at my parents' church.
After his sermon we have communion and the collection....sometimes we have baptisms afterwards. A prayer to end the service.

Happy Birthday! :)

Mass on Sunday takes between about 45 minutes and 1 hour and 15 minutes. Daily Mass (not Sunday or major Holy Day) takes between 20 minutes (like the Mass I went to this evening with 6 people an a priest :) ) and 35/40 minutes.

Mass on Ash Wednesday (start of Lent) is longer...maybe about 1.5 hrs to 1 3/4 hrs. Mass on Palm Sunday is about the same, if not a bit more. Mass on Maunday Thursday is about 2 hrs, with an all-night vigil afterwards (don't have to stay for that). Good Friday is about 2 hrs and Easter Saturday Vigil is about 2-2/5 hrs.

I don't think I've ever heard a homily more than 10 minutes...but I don't really watch the clock, so...sometimes the homily is literally 1-2 minutes. Like this Good Friday just gone. That could've been because we were all hungry (fasting), annoyed about having to go to Church on a Friday, many tired because they have to stand and boiling hot because it's packed and the middle of the day. ^_^ Also, we've given up stuff we love for over 40 days and uite cranky. ;)

Peace!
Rob :)

Lol thanks!

hmm I like morning eucharist wit communion, mattins tends to be a bit dull. The evening choral evensong is good as there is a lot of singing although congregatio attendance is never brilliant. The family service is probably the most popular attracting up to 200 people.

Since I go and see my mother before church, I usually arrive about 15 minunites early. The service begins, we stand and the pastor joins us in a reading in psalms. He will have chosen one pertaining to his sermon. The worship service is next. We sing along with a live group led by the worship leader. After worship the pastor gives the sermon. We just finished the book of James. We use our bibles during the sermon. Pastor Ed will be making a point and direct us to other areas of the word that shore up what he's saying. Were pageing through several different passages, in both the old and new testament. The service ends with prayer and an alter call. Most sundays 2 or 3 will give their life to Jesus. Then one more song of worship and church is out. I go to the 9:30-11:30 service. After church I just go home, my wife , a non believer has a lunch prepared for us. We disacuss the service during our meal. I am always looking for opertunities to give my testimony, in hope that she will consider the possibility of salvation.

About an hour and a half.

We shake hands. Then we sing. Then we pray. Then we get up and shake hands again. (I think this is a baptist thing. I never really got the reason for stopping the service to do this.) Then we sing again. Then we do announcements. Then we have special music. (Sometimes I sing.) Then the pastor gives his message. Then we pray. Then we sing again. Then the pastor gives an alter call. (I keep one eye open then, in case he waves me up to pray with somebody). The we pray again. Then we're dismissed. Then we go to Denny's and leave bad tips.

And then there's Sunday night, which is much less formal.
