God allows bad rulers for rebellious nations

They cry out to Me,
“My God, we of Israel know You!”
Israel has rejected the good;
The enemy will pursue him.
They have set up kings, but not by Me;
They have appointed princes, but I did not know it.
With their silver and gold they have made idols for themselves,
That they might be cut off. Hosea 8:2-4 (NASB)

God allows "cause and effect"

God is not mocked - whatever a man sows that shall he also reap Gal
Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap

Lev 18 describes some abominations (including the killing of babies) -- that cause even a non-religious naton to be wiped out by God.

Jesus said - Christians are to be an element for good -- salt, and light

Matt 5
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by people.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

We share the gospel - we declare what God said about what is right vs what is wrong, what is abomination and what is not.

We support those who are trying to stem the tide of evil.

If we simply choose to "vote for rin-tin-tin or "Lassie" instead of someone who can actually reduce/limit/or-stop some abomination... If we say "well Rin-tin-tin was not going to say something bad" --- God can see it.

We cannot fool God by all our various ways of "doing nothing" in a time of crisis - rather then helping to save the innocent being taken off to the slaughter-- by casting a vote against such actions.

God is sovereign - and His sovereign choice is to allow bad rulers for nations that choose to ignore Him.

Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap

Lev 18 - makes the case that "abomination matters" even to nations with no Bible at all - according to God.

Some will say "but I could not vote to stop all the evil in the world - so I did not vote"... God is not mocked, He knows when we do not do that little part that CAN be done when complaining about all the good we could not do at all.

I also believe this. In one of my books, I quote Mason:

"As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, they must be in this.
By an inevitable chain of causes & effects providence punishes national sins, by national calamities. "
~ George Mason

God has seen fit to place us in a nation where we can help determine who will rule, who will judge, and what laws will be enacted. I feel this is a responsibility for all believers to act upon. It is not that we should be obsessed with or put undue faith in our leaders, but to be given a gift such as this and to neglect to serve Him with the gift is poor stewardship of that gift.

That's good reading.

I so feel we need to do something. We need to try to make things better, more God-fearing and more God-honoring again. We need to try.

But then sometimes I think it may already be too late. Some say the U.S. is already experiencing the abandonment wrath of God. I've wondered it myself, for how quickly the evil has spread and is spreading. It is almost as if God has removed some protections, and is allowing America to now have what many are desiring. And what they are desiring is evil.

I do hope that it isn't too late, but soon we will know more about where we are headed.

I vote, hoping and praying it's not too little too late ...

I have no idea what this post is about.

Could you post an assertion,
instead of quoting Bible verses?

1. Christians need to speak out-- as salt and light - and condemn what the Bible calls abomination in placed like Lev 18 (where baby-killing is specifically addressed for example). Matt 5

2. Christians doing nothing (by voting for non-viable candidates for example) are seen as doing nothing --

3. God is not mocked... Gal 6 -- He can't be tricked or faked. He sees what is going on

4. Getting a bad ruler is not "God's best for you" it can be "cause-and-effect' where God gives "what you deserve" after failing to do that small part in being salt and light - that it was your privilege to do.

Well said.

The baby killing must stop.

Period.

rejected the good;
The enemy will pursue him.
They have set up kings, but not by Me;
Yes as written, they sinned when they set up leaders, but not by "Me".
Likewise all other countries (not only Israel) - they all sin setting up leaders "but not by Me" as God Himself Says.

Remember even seeking to have a king to be like other nations was/ is/ sinful.

But we don't. The only King over us is Christ.

In America the government is charged with keeping it's responsibility to the citizenry under God, as are we.

We aren't like other nations, our rights don't come from the government, they come from God.

That's why we are fighting now. People have been voted into office who don't believe in government being under a God because they don't believe in a God - they want all power to themselves and have a completely different world view.

Yes. And when a nation comes under judgment, so do the righteous suffer who are living within it.

I'm hoping it's not America's time for judgment, but I guess we shall soon see ...
