I have epilepsy, and a side effect of the medication I take for it is that it can cause spinal bifida in babies if extra folic acid isn't taken. 40 mg is what I needed to take in order to get the folic acid I need in.

I hope splitting the doses up helps you.

If you stop taking the folic acid (which I'm not recomending) would the headaches go away?

I only ask because I had always suffered from headaches but didn't start getting migraines until I was pregnant with my first child. I've had them ever since. I'm wondering if there was a connection.

Hope you find something that works out for you.

He gave me a prescription for Relpax, but it costs $243 here to fill, so I'm just dealing with them when I get them. I haven't had as many lately though, so thats helped.

I have 100% prescription coverage so maybe I should give that a shot. Is it safe for pregnancy?

I started getting tension headaches and migraines daily since I started taking the folic acid. I get it about 1 - 2 hours after I take the tablet. I do normally suffer from migraines (due to fibromyalgia) but not daily. I do believe they would stop being so frequent if I stopped taking the folic acid, which I won't do.

I hope I find something that works too. Trying to conceive and pregnancy shouldn't have to be so difficult :(

Since I have started taking folic acid regularly, I have found that I have chronic daily headaches. Sometimes it's a tension headache and sometimes a full blown migraine. Has anyone else had this problem?

How is your Calcium, Phosphorus, and Magnesium levels??

If you are taking a mineral supplement of those, in addition to the FA, you should notice a diminishment of migraines and headaches. :)

Funny you mention that... As last night I realized that I haven't been taking my CalMag supplement at dinner like I'm supposed to. I hate taking it because it makes me nauseous, but, I guess slight nausea is better than a migraine! Thanks for the reminder
