ive heard there is an island or something near Mt. Athos that only women can go to. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks.

I don't think there could be - they need priests to come to celebrate the liturgy. I'm sure there are plenty of places that are as close as can be, others can elaborate.

The island of Aigina, near Athens is often called the "women's Mount Athos" because of the many women's monasteries there.

Yes, although I admit it's the first time I hear that it is called the women's Mt. Athos.
First time I hear the term altogether actually.

Because Aegina is a favorite stop for the Orthodox tourists (pilgrims).

And rightly so. A great saint, who finally got a worthy church with his name!
