An Italian female boxer quit 46 seconds into a fight against an opponent with XY chromosomes at the Olympics on Thursday after getting punched twice in the face, prompting renewed backlash to the hot-button issue of men competing in women's sports.

Angela Carini, who told reporters she was fighting in honor of her late father, was reduced to tears after abandoning the fight against her Algerian opponent Imane Khelif.

Obligatory post that reminds everybody she is not transgender and was born female. She has a blood disorder which gives her unusually high testosterone levels and she has had it her whole life. She does not want to become confused for or used as the voice or transgender athletes.

Why was Imane Khelif allowed to compete at the Olympics?

A victory against Angela Carini in the women’s welterweight boxing sparked a largely misinformed debate in the sports world.

By all metrics used by people who don’t support transgender ideology and state your born sex organs define your gender, she would be considered female as she was, without dispute, born with female genitalia.

That statement doesn't read right to me, the DSD did not result in XY chromosomes, the DSD resulted in the XY chromosomes not causing there usual outcomes, didn't cause them. Maybe below says it better

She has disorder of sex development (DSD) that despite having XY chromosomes and testosterone levels similar to those of male athletes, has female primary organs and was duly categorized as a female.

Personally, I do not know enough about this person, but it didn't look like a fair fight. However IMHO if someone has functioning testees, that are producing male level of testosterone, then despite any other characteristics, they should have to fight in the male category.

I was told that it’s not hormones, internal genetic makeup, or chromosomes that decide gender. If you have a vagina, you’re a woman. A penis, you’re a man. She has a vagina, she is a woman. It’s decided at birth and can’t be changed or in flux.

You have to pick a side of the stream. Either genetic makeup matters to categorizing gender manifestations or it doesn’t, and biology is dictated by physical sex organs in which case you’re victimizing a woman who’s just at the top of her sport by telling her she isn’t actually enough of a female to compete with other women.

It is the testees and their production of testosterone.

As I said, I do not know the medical situation, but having functioning testees is what gives the physical advantage. (Even if they are undescended)

I would suggest you look up her condition. I’m just learning about it myself. I mean, there is physical evidence in her case. Which is lacking the trans community, etc.

So gender is irrefutably gender unless it’s one of those scenarios where it isn’t, then it isn’t, and it never is with the segment of people you don’t like.
