The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) hosted the inaugural meeting this week of a new task force to counter anti-Christian bias in federal government policies, regulations, and practices.

“Protecting Christians from bias is not favoritism,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said ahead of the meeting. “It’s upholding the rule of law and fulfilling the constitutional promise [in the First Amendment].”

The task force’s first meeting on Tuesday was closed to the public and the media but included the heads of multiple federal departments and agencies along with witnesses who provided testimony on anti-Christian bias within the federal government.

President Donald Trump formally established the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias on Feb. 6 by executive order. His order commissioned a comprehensive review of federal departments and agencies, particularly to reverse certain actions of the previous administration.

yeah! Up with religious freedom. Up with religious liberty!

But I pray they will not swing too far - sliding into the ditch of intolerance of certain religious practices in that ditch on the right.

It is one thing to say "we need to protect all Christians against anti-Christian agendas", its another to say we need all Christians to follow a certain religious practice no matter how it conflicts with their current religious practice/pov/beliefs.

So then "yes freedom" but also "no dark ages - please"

Sad that we have to have executive orders to get protections that are afforded to us in the constitution.
You don't, but the EO's do help folks feel pandered to.

Already there. Do you think there is no Anti-Muslim sentiment in the U.S?

the task force is directed at cleaning up government opposition to Christianity in America.

Are you saying there is government opposition to Islamic centers of worship in America that is anywhere near what it is against Christians?

lol, there absolutely is more opposition (government or otherwise) to Islamic HOW in the US than there is to Christian churches.

Off the top of my head, there was a full court press from the right against the "Ground Zero Mosque":

and a big outcry against the construction of a mosque in Murfreesboro, TN:

Similarly in Bridgewater, NJ:

and the Epic City, TX development:

In the Texas example, you have the governor and AG directly going after them with bigoted messaging about stuff like "Sharia law."

Anti-Christian bias is nothing new. No less than Bill Clinton had to release a guideline on what was and wasn't violations of the Establishment Clause after incidents like the school covering a child's drawing of a nativity scene. Government opposition can take the form of zoning against worship centers, or, as seen during the recent pandemic, in some places preventing Christians from worshiping in their cars while listening to the sermon over a low wattage FM transmitter. Then there's the FBI plan to put Roman Catholic Latin service attendees under surveillance. Haven't heard about that one? See: FBI under pressure for targeting Catholics in leaked document .
