I heard a Baptist minister talking about the Last Judgment
he was going on about the pain and shame we will feel over our sins before the Judgment Seat of God and how the "burning love of God" will transform us so we can enjoy heaven

I was thinking "wow, he is talking about a kind of Purgatory"

As a Baptist, the way I see it is that if there is Purgatory, then Jesus' sacrifice isn't enough because he paved the way to heaven and paid all our sins, but if some of our sins are fully paid then Jesus' sacrifice isn't enough to get you directly to heaven.

I see where you're coming from. The problem is not Jesus. It is that many Christians have not let Jesus thoroughly purify their hearts because of residual resistance from sin and bad habits, due to the human ego (flesh). Saying the Sinners Prayer doesn't fully do the job, as far as dying to ourselves and living eternally in Him. Doing that is a very long process for most of us. Yet I do think a Sinners Prayer is very good. To me, it seems like saying, "OK Lord, I'm ready to begin."

I wonder how long it will be before those who preach like that realise that they really do believe in purgatory?
