Fun fact, coal plants are being closed down under trump single term more then Obama entire presidency.
And neither of them can take credit/be blamed for that. HRSGs are the most economic way to make power at the moment. And I’m building one right now..

That doesn't stop trump apparently.
It will however stop most coal consumption in the US in the near future. Old plants are closing and new ones are not being built but I can see the coal lobby getting relief from economic reality from the champions of the free market.

That's what the champions of the free market do. They make government pay subsidies to their friends in the farming community, and the coal, and nuclear power industry.

Its odd, that “the other side” (RW), cannot see how what Trump has done to American farmers would be roundly, (yea, verily and rightly too), denounced, if:
A “Democrat President” unilaterally decided that the auto makers could no long sell cars with gasoline engines.
Then, after they suffer crippling losses, this Commie Dem shovels MONEY at them so that he won’t lose the UAW’s support!

Yep, when capitalism goes off the rails (through its own fault) we turn to socialism to rescue it.

Ironic!

And why is that?

To me, it seems that these would be close downs/shut downs that were initiated during Obama's tenure.

And why is that?

Because they have become economically unfeasible with the advent of cheap natural gas.

Natural gas production roughly doubled during Obama's presidency, and the price was more than cut in half. So the economics began to shift during that time, but it had very little to do with Obama or any actions of his administration.

Except, theoretically, that he allowed the explosion of shale exploration (which many people don't much care for).

Be careful, it might be unpatriotic to disparage freedom gas.

Elsewhere in the government’s press release, U.S. Undersecretary of Energy Mark W. Menezes explains, “Increasing export capacity from the Freeport LNG project is critical to spreading freedom gas throughout the world by giving America’s allies a diverse and affordable source of clean energy.” (Bolds are mine.)
