Hello,
So, I've always been taught that we should not try to interpret our dreams.... But I've had a few about snakes lately that are really troubling me, (2 dreams specifically). In one dream, a black snake crawled up the length of my arm & latched on with his fangs, (then I woke up). In another one, a large, black viper was furiously gliding down aisles, with his upper body upright as he glided along... He was on a mission to get me; (I was running/hiding). My life has felt extremely chaotic lately, but I don't know what this would have to do with snake dreams - the 2 with black snakes have kept me concerned.
Any thoughts? Am I concerned about nothing?
Thank you

I have had dreams with snakes, they are quite scary to me, especially if one bites me. The image of the snake is very powerful to me personally when I have seen one in real life. They are definitely animals that I fear.

Well, the prophets interpreted dreams, why can't we?

Apparently to see a snake in your dream can signify both an untrustworthy person or someone/something that has slipped out of your hands. Since you said your life has been pretty chaotic lately, the 2nd one seems to be spot on.

I've heard that also that seeing snakes means someone untrust worthy is around your life. I think this kind of message spreads distrust among people. Is their a Christian answer?

I'm not sure if there's a specifically "Christian" answer (dreams have meanings whether you're Christian or not), though there are positive meanings to the snake as well, like transformation and healing.

With all the chaos going on in your life, it seems like the dream is accentuating that your life feels a bit out of control right now. Since one of them bites you in the dream, maybe there's something bothering you about it.

Generally speaking dreams reflect our life / our current situation, so I wouldn't think there's anything prophetic about these dreams. Your mind is chaotic when you're awake, and so it's chaotic when you're asleep as well.

We also tend to dream about the things we fear or are afraid will happen. Like for example if you're afraid of going bald, or losing all your teeth, or showing up for work naked, you may frequently have dreams where exactly those things happen.

Having said all that, we can receive dreams from God and probably also from the devil. Only you can discern that.

First, you must be sure you've been Born Again (Baptized in the Holy Spirit, having the Holy Spirit within you.) If that's true, than you can pray to the Father thru the spirit of Christ to give you the interpretation of the dream. If God is trying to show you something, He will tell you the dream, just like He told Joseph. Almost all dreams (if not all of them) come from the Devil, our flesh, or God. Most are from our flesh...simply our mind "blowing off steam", REM, etc. I have had dreams that explain things and where God has taught me biblical lessons, so I completely believe God still uses dreams. But I believe Satan can too, so you need to ask God. If God can give you the answer Himself, you don't NEED another human being to give you their "interpretation". That is why I said it's MOST important that you know you have the Holy Spirit of God.

That's a new one, I don't think the Devil can implement dreams. No evidence either in Scripture or outside it either.

Nightmares like that aren't necessarily demonic in origin or anything. His just likely represents the chaos going on in his life. Being born again doesn't stop anyone from having nightmares or the like, dreams and nightmares happen to everyone.

Then that's your mind being random. XD Some dreams I guess have a common meaning that seems relevant and others—like that and several of my dreams—are just plain wacky and random. XD

Dreams are sometimes our subconscious mind's way of working through problems in our life. Sometimes there's a message in them. I believe the book of Job says that God sometimes speaks to us in dreams (but I forget where it is right now and can't figure out what to search on to look it up, sorry). The Old Testament has several stories about dreams having a message. I don't know why we'd think that doesn't still happen. God hasn't changed.

I used to have frequent dreams about being half-dressed in public. One day the interpretation came to me: the dreams were symbolic of the fact that I was afraid to let the real me show around other people. Once I realized what it meant and started trying to correct the problem, the dreams stopped. There was a clear message, and it was important for me to see it.

I would think the snakes probably symbolize evil or at least something you're afraid of. They are probably just symbolic of what you're going through in your life right now. You may feel like you're under attack by some dark forces. That's probably not true, but it's how you feel, and that's what the dreams are expressing. Or maybe if you ask God, another interpretation will come to you.

In any case, I wouldn't worry about it. The dreams are not prophetic or anything like that.

Those kind of dreams always makes me feel a little disturbed. Like I'm missing some important point.

I agree, and there are many here that claim they speak in tongues, and since Prophecy tends to go right along with that, I would there would be several here that would have no trouble interpreting this dream for the OP.

Now I did ask on a "tongues" thread if there were also prophets here and about some of the things they prophesied...actually I've asked a couple of times on different threads but no one speaks up. Doesn't make sense either, with all the people here that in touch with the Holy Spirit, I would think we could get this job done no problem.

Jules, did you happen to watch a movie like Anaconda or something similar, youtube video? or maybe a video game with something even close to snakes in it before going to bed?

Things like that, or what I had on my mind before I go to bed, definitely can cause that. It's happened to me plenty so I'm sure of it. Or it could be a twisted version of something we had on our mind, like the snake representing a something general as others mention.

And that's not to say it can't man anything else, I just think those are the most likely explanations.
