Is anyone familiar with the work of Dr. John Gottman? He is apparently able, through scientific testing and observation, to predict with 91% accuracy which marriages will ultimately succeed or fail based on follow-up reports from participants in his 'love lab'. He reportedly has narrowed down his findings to indicate what behaviors and attitudes will contribute to marital success and failure over time.
My wife has suggested that I look into the work of Dr. Gottman and give him a fair hearing, but I am a bit of a skeptic, especially of those who claim a "91%" anything based solely on their own work. Just my analytical thought process. Especially since I am a counselor professionally and I am trained to question stuff like this right off the bat unless I see the PROOF of what people claim.
So, any Gottman devotee's out there?
