First of all I will try to clarify what it feels like; it sometimes feels like butterflies but much lighter (sorry for being vague), and othertimes it feels heavy.

This usually happens when I think about God or pray, its not a negative heavy feeling in my spirit. Is this what the Holy Spirit feels like or is it an evil spirit?

I will advise you to go to the doctor and have I check up. If it not physical than it could be spiritual.
love you

I don't know, but I experienced something very similar while praying constantly for several hours while driving one time, along with a restlessness and almost a euphoria. I wasn't and am still not sure how to interpret it, so look forward to seeing other responses.

I agree with @Alicia Schout that you should consider physical/medical causes, though.

I was asking God what is my calling once , and then while reading bible i was in perfect mood , i had songs in background and was laughing at something just few min before then reading one of verse , for less than one second i think that i felt something that i can't explain.

It made me for one second , helpless to the point that there is no hope like God would leave me , my eyes become all wet instantly , tears from my eyes dropping on my desk and my glasses to the point that i could not see through my glasses . And then i could not breathe , like i was not choking but i could not speak . It all last like 10 seconds overall , then i said wow God that was powerfull so i come back to read the same verse again because i forgot what i read because of that .

I don't know what was that , i was not in fear and i was in good mood , it was like God let me experience what people will experience in hell with no hope forever . That verse also showed me my calling .

The sensation I feel is definitely not physical it is something in my spirity, it does not feel physical at all and it is hard to describe on words.

To be sure make an appointment with your doctor and one with your minister to get both physical and spiritual check up.

May I also suggest you keep a prayer diary, recording the bible passage you're reading, thoughts on the passage and what you are praying about.

This might supply a clue as to why you feel what you feel.

Personally I see it as a totally awesome thing. God's light stirring in your heart. I think it's wonderful.
I did notice that I had a heavyish feeling in my solar plexus today when I prayed for the leader of North Korea. I had prayed for other somewhat troublesome people but I only had that sort of blocked, knotted feeling when I got to him. Maybe he lives behind a lead wall or something, who knows?

If that happened to me I would think my solar plexus chakra was opening up to God's unconditional love.
I am not familiar with the concept of "chakra", except to know it is used in yoga and Hinduism. Could you please explain what this means for an unenlightened man like me?

You would be better off googling it, my friend. I only have a loose understanding of it myself from old friends who understand such things. I never got into it myself but I remember that the solar plexus is the seat of the spiritual heart.

I have heart trouble and tightness on the chest might indicate the need for cardiac investigation; I myself waited far too long before getting checked out.

Yes, good advice. That's why I echoed Alicia Schout's suggestion for him to get a medical opinion. My heart is healthy according to my stress test and Holter monitor, and my latest check up a few days ago. Praying for your heart troubles.

Thanks; it's important to have a good relationship with one's medical team, if possible.

Yep. And I think it is important to consider medical, physical and other natural causes before considering the spiritual (not to diminish the reality of those, though).

I absolutely know what you're talking about! I feel it too...especially when I'm praying or thinking about God. I've had times when it occurs over and over again when I'm talking to certain people. It is the Holy Spirit, not an evil spirit. The reason I say this is because I have felt both. When I was coming out of my addiction and getting closer to God, I started feeling a heaviness in my chest along with feelings of condemnation and worked through that through prayer and continuing to get closer and closer to God. This feeling is the butterfly feeling you're saying and sometimes a heaviness, but it isn't negative and it is definitely not something physical. It is hard to explain to people without them thinking that sometimes though. While I'm reading your post, I feel it! God is so cool!
