I think that there will be lots of music in heaven, and that it will be better than rock can ever be. Have you ever heard a song (of any genre) and there is that moment that makes you melt, makes you really happy, energizes you....really affects you in some unknown way? I think its because the artist is on to something. I think those moments, multiplied by 10000000, are going to be what heavenly music is like.
In other words, in heaven, you won't want to listen to rock music. It would be like if you now decided to listen to nursery rhymes instead of good rock. There is just no comparison.

I think it is safe to say that if the music does not praise God and give reverence to Him it will not be present, regardless of the style. It almost safe to assume that the people who create rock music here on earth will not be present in heaven. That is between them and God, and I am not judging, just looking at the fruit they bear here on earth.

I believe in Heaven- that we are going to delight in God's pleasures- and likewise, I think he will delight in ours. I listen to Rock and Roll Worship- And God shows up in it. So- why can't the Rock and Roll Worshipers praise God in heaven with that form of music? And it's safe to say there are thousands of rock and roll music players that will die and go to heaven. But also, I agree with ps139- that the songs of the Angels crying "Holy, Holy, Holy" will be the most beautiful music we have ever heard. OOOH... I can't wait.

Wow, so much on the topic and honestly no one here can really answer the question because we just don't know. Here's the way I look at it: if I'm up in heaven and I see Jesus face to face, I don't care if there is music or not. ;)

Well, I think its safe to say that there are a lot of christian rock bands here (P.O.D., Blindside, Chevelle, MxPx, The Juliana Theory etc..). Also, there are simply christian musicians such as Alice Cooper that are still in the music scene today. Do you guys think these people will still be rockin out in Heaven? Do think that maybe the'll still be concerts and stuff?

:( Having spent most of my life as a musician, I think we could better interpret this as: I think it is safe to say that if the music does not praise God the way Mrstace praises Him and gives reference to Him it will not be present, regardless of the style.

This is the first time I have ever known that Jesus' sacrifice was not sufficient for my salvation because I have written rock music. Never mind that I have led worship, preached, authored Christian books and literature to lead people to Christ, and have virutally devoted the past 20 years of my life to serving Jesus, I have written rock music and therefore am ineligible to spend eternity in heaven. Shucks; and I was so looking forward to it.

Sorry for the rave, I hope what you were saying didn't come out as you planned it. But, I am a bit sensistive to this kind of diatribe.

You see, my son, who loves the Lord with all his heart, mind and body was shunned by an AG pastor and had rumors spread among his friends by same pastor that he was involved with a satanic cult becasue my son was convinced that God wanted him to play with a secular rock band and be the hands and feet of Jesus to them. It was devastaing to him. He had many close friends from church turn against him because the pastor was so charismatic. He not only had them burn all their rock cds, he made them burn their Christian rock cds, as well. Those who did not succumb to his insanity, turned bitterly away from God.

My son was greatly shaken and struggled for a time with his walk with God. He is back to playing in a contemporary Christian band now and has gotten closer to God again, but he still can't make himself trust church leaders enough to get involved with any local body.

Incidently, 2 of the menbers in my son's old prog rock band have given their lives to Christ and attribute my son's steadfast unconditional love for them as instrumental in leading them home.

Some Christians simply have no clue how much damage their myopic narrow-minded legalism can do.

Mercy triumphs over judgment:clap:

yeah...it is a really sad thing when Christians become legalistic. My stand on this is: If we do something because the Bible says so, it doesnt make it legalistic right away. After all, we are meant to follow His word. However, we become legalistic when we take things too literally and take it out of context...and when we do things the just because the Bible says so. Legalism is following the Bible but ur heart is not in it. The heart makes all the difference.

About music...I believe in God's redemption even of music genres. I believe He redeemed the rock genre of music because there are contemporary Christian artists who belong to that genre. He is claiming back what is rightfully His. Talents come from God...no matter how it is expressed. And if talents are used to glorify God, who are we to say they do not fit in His heavenly Kingdom?

I personally believe we'll be able to listen to any kind of music we desire, and if we are in heaven we'll only want to listen to good music. I also believe that we bring our talents with us, so if someone were a wonderful rapper, drum player, singer and so on, those talents will be with us in heaven.
