I've never asked.

I used to kiss his hand when I went up for the antidoron, but he always said something like "it's ok" or "You don't have to" when I did it. It made me really confused so I stopped going up at all. Probably not the right thing to do.

Some newly ordained Orthodox Priests who are converts from protestantism feel very uncomfortable when people kiss their hands. Usually they mellow out after a few years and will allow the Orthodox faithful to kiss their right hand as a sign of respect for the Holy Priesthood.

He's cradle Orthodox (Romanian) and everyone else kisses his hand.

I'd ask him what I should do, but I he didn't reply to the last e-mail I sent him. I probably ought to wait until my work schedule changes (after Christmas) and I can attend DL more regularly. That way he can see that I really am serious about this.

Yes, every time. I also kiss Father's hand (after kissing the cross) whenever presented with the hand cross for veneration.

Yep, same here, also after receiving holy oil on the forehead. But not after receiving the Holy Mysteries. Then I just kiss the chalice.

Yes, I have been told that it is very improper to kiss a priest's hand immediately after receiving the Holy Mysteries as he could drop the Spoon.

In the Greek Orthodox Church, the common practice here in the USA is not to kiss the Chalice. They will only allow someone to kiss the chalice who is being denied Holy Communion - like when a non-Orthodox person approaches the chalice without the understanding that we do have 'closed' communion.

I was taught that you put your hand out one over the other (like the catholic way of taking communion) and say "bless father" and he will bless you and put his hand there and then you kiss it. I dont think it's weird, I mean, what is the way a chilverous man greats a woman in older movies? He takes her hand and kisses it. And no one is like "ahhh!!! false worship!!" and yet people think we are somehow worshiping the priests or something in kissing their hands.

My other priest is more into the "Arab" style and does the 3 kisses on the cheeks greeting, like how we kiss during the Kiss of Peace.

I think Orthodox just really like to kiss. We just kiss everything!

Just got done doing this very thing after a little chat. As a 33 year protestant, my first experiance was ewweee a heary hand to kiss but now I understand it is a sign of respect and I dearly love my spiritual father plus any protestant that sees this event is scandelized, which tickles me to no end.....one of my many weaknesses is trying to making protestants squirm in uncomfortable phariseeism...

Maybe it's those cold sores... ^_^
