Jesus told us to pray to God as Father, but He also so claimed it would be Himself who came from that Father to us to be with us, and then when He did - it was the Holy Spirit who came!

None of the Holy Trinity are going to be jealous of each other whether we call upon them by one name or another.

God delights in us and delights within Himself as the one God who is a three-in-one community.

He isn't be mad at you because you find the Trinity confusing! He loves your voice.

When christ was born on Earth he was 100% man. He also was God though. However to be the atoining sacrifise he had to humble himself and give up all his 'powers' (couldn't think of another word). Everything Christ did here on earth was to show us an example. The Lord's prayer would be the best known bible verse except John 3:16. God the Father in my opinion never leaves the throne room. He is the full manifestation of God. In the old testament God is referred to as a father. Jesus said this prayer not to suggest that we MUST pray to none but the father but to show us the personal relationship we have with God. The Jews of the time believed this relationship was impossible. For them the people had to go through a priest or a rabi. But now we see Jesus, who is God, walking around saying that God is in a good mood and he is our friend. the Lord's prayer isn't only about praying, its about the personal relationship we can have with the father, the creator of the world.
And as long as your praying to God its not important which part. However I always find that it depends on the issue. for instance for someone who was born without a father and who needs one he will probably spend alot more dialog (after healing ministry) with the father, Whereas someone from a rough background willl go to Jesus cause in him is the grace and forgiveness of sins. May the Father, Son and Holy Spirit Bless you abundently as you continue to earnistly seek him and his truths.

God delights in us and delights within Himself as the one God who is a three-in-one community.

Then whether I pray to God, the Son, or the Holy Spirit, in essence it is the same. Yet we are usually taught to pray "in" the spirit to God or the Son, depending on our church. So is there a difference between the two latter as well, when it comes to prayer?

Thats an interesting point. I didn't have a father and at times I find myself approaching God as I imagine a child does his parent. When I wanted to talk like a friend, person to person, it was to Jesus. It should be one or the other shouldn't it?

I don't know the correct theological answer, but I pray to any one of The Three depending on what I'm praying about. I don't think They have a communication problem and even if I have called upon the wrong one (if that is even possible) my prayer will be heard.

Do you imagine God takes offense because you can be more honest in your prayers to Jesus than you can be to God?

I wouldn't think so. He already knows how screwed up we are and I'm quite sure He's used to it.

Sometimes I think of Him sitting up there when I pray and I say, "Lord, it's me again. You know, the screw-up", He's just sighs, rolls the eyes, and says "No kidding".

(Of course being an occasionally sarcastic fellow myself, I can easily attribute such a fine and beautiful quality to others.)

I prayed about this once - I said, "Lord, sometimes I am praying and switching from addressing the Father, to Jesus, and to the Spirit. Is that okay?"

It's one of the few prayers that I've ever had answered so strongly that it was almost audible. The Spirit said, "Of course, child. We are one."

When Jesus prayed it was always directed at the Father. Jesus' use of the "Father" was so that he didnt have to use the sacred name of God. That is why you will also see the "the Name" or in Hebrew, "HaShem" as another example. In English translations it is translated as "LORD".

Basically, pray to the Father through the name of Jesus the Messiah as the mediator.

By God the Holy Spirit, through God the Son, to God the Father.
I can communicate with any of three persons of the one Godhead, though to the Father in that order is most effective and is often the focus and purpose.

Jesus gave us an example on how to pray..
Our Father...we direct our prayers to Him.
Jesus said also that we should ask in His Name.

I do that almost all of the time.......but not always.
Thinking about I think I should always pray that way.
Just some verses

Matthew 6:8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

John 16
20 Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.
21 When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because herhour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
22 So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.
23 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

John 1
12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

Does anyone know any where in Scripture that says otherwise?
I don't does anyone else?

I wouldn’t say it’s necessary all the time, but that is the main focus and what should be practiced most often. We do have a personal relationship with Jesus, conversations with Him are beneficial to our walk imo, as we are transformed into His image. But when we really need to approach the throne for request, the line should be to the Father as Jesus has been made a way for that to be open to us through Him. And don’t forget the comforter, He is quite active in our lives as well, helping us directly to gain understanding and working ministries to and through us, and helping us to pray and listen. So we have a comforter, an intercessor and one that gives good things. All should be magnified and exalted. Each of the Godhead has a role, and we can enjoy fellowship in our God.

Sometimes I say Lord, sometimes I say God, sometimes Jesus (which is funny if you think about it since Jesus’ name was Joshua) sometimes I ask the Spirit to come.

Lately I find myself just calling Him Dad…..

A question Ladies and Gentlemen:

Do we pray to God or Jesus? I find myself unsure on the subject. Jesus is God, but in the Lords Prayer he directs us to pray to our Father in Heaven. Thanks!

We pray as Jesus did, and as He instructed us to do: "Our Father in Heaven".

We are able to have our prayers answered because we pray through the Spirit of Jesus.

Jesus is the Head of the Church, so there is a lot of spiritual work which goes on, as the Spirit within one longs to see what the future is in Jesus Christ, and to understand Jesus Christ as He is.

Specifically, this is what it means when one says, "the Spirit of Prophecy is the Testimony of Jesus".

We pray as Jesus demonstrated to His disciples when they asked Him how they should pray....to God, our Father. The reason Jesus the Christ died is to re-unite us with our Father, our Abba.
