Shouldn't have come in here! You guys are SO far ahead of us (we're on episode 5 - the one where they show the widower the note, Bree rips down her son's door, and the older woman blackmails Susan with the burnt measuring cup)...
I LOOOOOOOOVE this show - although a lot of Christians poo poo it, I think it is great for showing the consequences of behaviour.
Case in point Gabrielle...
Does anyone REALLY think she's getting away with this affair? Everytime she does something with the gardener, she has to create more and more elaborate schemes to hide it, and slowly but surely, it's catching up with her (her husband suspects her, John is falling in love with her, everywhere she turns she has to do something to cover up her lies and affair).
Everywhere I turn on this show, it shows again the consequences for deviating from the 'right' thing to do. Covering up your issues, only brings more to the fore, and sends you further down that spiral of self-destruction - and I appreciate that this show, rather than most soapies, shows you that.
Plus, I love Lynette! After growing up around people who think SAHMs are either 'perfect' or 'lazy', it's good to see a woman who is TRYING CONTINUOUSLY to do the right thing, but can honestly admit she's exhausted. And I DO know children like that, who are like that due to personality - not because they have been raised in a way that encourages bad behaviour...
Every Monday night, every week... fabulous show...
